Problems with rules that can be misinterpreted.

Hello dear Epvpers.
I came across a unfortunate situation recently, that is seen quite often in some of the cheating sub-forums.

These following rule can be misinterpreted.

Rule:
5.2 "Making posts that are unnecessary or meaningless one-word posts like "#reported" or "#closerequest" is forbidden."

The problem is that if discussions/debates in threads, are getting off topic from the original topic of the thread, there need to be a more clear rule saying you aren't allowed to get off topic or saying off topic posts in threads are allowed, because atm rule "5.2" is been used to enforce off topic posts as "discuss something in a wrong thread is considered as spam and violating rule 5.2 ."

So i think there either should be a clear rule that states something like this:

You are not allowed to have a discussion/debate, off of the original threads topics.
You are allowed off topic discussion/debate, if the thread owner allows it. (Should stop off topic discussions/debates if he says so).
You are allowed off topic discussions/debates to take place in threads.

I have the (blue) statement by moderator Crowley in dm.

I personally think off topic posts should be allowed in threads if the thread owner doesn't mind it, since it gives a more natural flow of conversations/debates/discussion.

I don't what this feedback to be seen as an attack to anyone, i simply just think the rules needs to be changed/adjusted a little bit, so it's more clear what is allowed and what isn't allowed.

Hope you all have a good day! :pimp:

Would like to see this improvement. Lots of interesting conversations in many posts get shut down because it's not fully on topic with the initial post, many of which I participate in.

Can you link a thread which contains some sort of example (it doesn't matter if the OT posts have been removed, we can still see them)? I don't think your suggestion is about allowing to talk about the weather in a sales thread.

The orange suggestion wouldn't be possible, as we can't transfer any rule-making to the OP of a thread.

Sorry for the late response, i didn't see you commented here before now.

No my feedback/suggestion isn't like that, it's more towards to flow of a conversation/debate that can happen in threads, as (you) will be able to see, it was a meaningful discussion because of some of the "Short words/terms" that some people use for things, but others might not know about.

But i found the link for a thread where this happened, it is also the thread where the moderator Crowley confirmed the this for me, since i was one of the people in the discussion.

That's a shame, but i can see why that would be a problem, but wouldn't it be possible to make it allowed unless the thread owner says he doesn't want it in his thread?

That's is exactly why i posted this feedback/suggestion, i think it's destructive to delete post's entirely, since these post that might be off topic, could be having meaningful information and conversations/discussions.

Any news about the feedback/suggestions, or how does it work? @[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Been over a week now.

The deleted posts are a dispute between you and another user, and I consider the deletion of the posts to be justified as they offer no added value.

I don't think that's true, it was about the topic which was related to the sub-forum.

But even if that would be true, that still doesn't mean there should be a rule to clearly specify, why it was deleted. As i said in my feedback/suggestion, the rules can be misunderstood and doesn't give clarity to why some posts have been deleted.

1/4 of the discussion is about the definition of the word 'should'.

Because that's was the whole point of the discussion, "should" external cheats be called "fully external" if they aren't writing to memory or "should" they not.

In the end we came to an conclusion in dm's, but i never got the chance to give the conclusion in the thread because all of the posts was deleted for breaking a rule that's doesn't clearly specify we weren't allowed to go off topic to in threads.

That's my whole point of the suggestion/feedback.

The conversation was just awful to read, but I don't mind undeleting the posts if you insist on it that much.

No need to, this thread wasn't meant to complain about the decision in anyway, but about a feedback/suggestion to the rules.

The reason why i made this thread is because, i think there need to be a more clearly stating rule about what is and what isn't allowed to post in threads.

I would love to see a new rule saying off topic posts in threads isn't allowed, or a rule that says it is allowed. I already stated my opinion about it, and that i think it should be allowed, but in the end it comes down to what your/team decides.

I just wanted to know if something will be changed or added.

We will think about it, but I'm not sure how far we can relax the rule to prevent it from being abused. Maybe it will be a minimal update of the internal mod guidance to not moderate cases like yours too strictly.
