[INFORMATION] Degree 16, Degree 17 & new areas coming to Silkroad Online! (Legend 23)

For my 500th post, I would like to share some special news with the entire community!

As most of the community knows, I keep everyone updated on developments within the official SRO community through Discord. However, considering the magnitude and rarity of these events, I have decided to make a post here.

kSRO has officially announced their Legend 23 Update!

Two days ago, on May 8th, 2023 - the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] was updated with information and a popup regarding a new update - the 23rd Legend update.

Users are met with a popup upon opening the site, which looks like this:

As any diehard Silkroad fan is aware, the mark of "Legend" updates often includes massive waves of new content, systems, and experiences for the community.

While the [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] only showcases a teaser of the Legend 23 update and no information, with a bit of digging, I was able to discover the contents of the patch.

Within the Media.pk2 of the official kSRO client* lies all of the update information & the patch list!

Degree 16 Items:

Degree 16/17 items can apparently be gained in several ways:

1.) Random items of Degree 16 or 17 can be obtained from Random Boxes dropped in the Secret Tomb.
2.) Players who collect the most Coins of Destruction (Golden Token) will be rewarded with random Degree 16 items.

Degree 16 & 17 items appear to use a new type of alchemy system called High Alchemy. This system includes a new menu in the Alchemy UI, with room for "High Enhancers," "High Rondos," etc.

Ultimate Weapon Crafting:

Ultimate Weapons are rare and new-formed items which are unable to be transformed using Magic POP Guide Gori's features and can only be obtained by crafting OR through a "Limited Equipment box." These items do not drop from any monster or Magic Lamp.

Another new dungeon is joining our journey in official SRO very soon!

The Secret Tomb consists of 2 different levels, the lower (easier) and upper (harder).

The Secret Tomb requires a key, similar to Dungeon of Vicious Shadows, to enter it. You will likely be able to purchase it from the item mall.
There is a brand new NPC dedicated to this dungeon: Ancient Prophet & Ancient History Scholar.

Each room of the Secret Tomb consists of WAVES, similar to how Battlefield of Infinity works!
Each room has 10 monsters and 1 unique.

Based off of the textuisystem entries, there is also evidence that the Secret Tomb may be limited by VIP level.

The Secret Tomb has the potential to drop "Random Boxes", which grant you a random type of Degree 16 items!

1	7013	SN_LOST_TOMB_DUNGEON_ALCHEMIST_BS	유피테르 신전에  숨겨져 있는 또 다른 입구를 찾아 냈습니다. 이 곳은 상층, 하층 으로 구성된 무덤으로 파악이 됐으나  굳게 잠겨져 있어 조사가 중단  됐습니다. 

고문서를 분석한 결과 비밀의 열쇠 라는 것이 필요 하다는것 까지 알아내었으나  하필열쇠가 있는곳이 샴발라 화탕옥,흑암옥  지역 인지라 학자인  저로써는 엄두가 나지 않는 군요. 

어떻습니까 저를 대신해서 비밀의 무덤을 마저 조사해 주시지 않겠습니까?	0	0	0	0	0	I found another entrance hidden in the Jupiter Temple.
This place consisted of upper and lower two floors in the grave, but it was locked tightly, the investigation was interrupted.

As a result of analyzing, it was confirmed that it was necessary to be a Secret Key.
Unfortunately,  I can not get the key because the place where the key is located is the Fire and Shadow Temples of Shambhala.

Temple of Destruction (Shadow Job Temple):

The Shadow Job Temple is self-explanatory. It is a clone of the normal Job Temple, but for higher levels.
The Shadow Job Temple contains monsters from levels 130~140, all clones of the same traditional Job Temple monsters with the prefix Phantom- or Shadow-.

Shadow Temple also has uniques, just like the original Job Temple.

The Shadow Job Temple drops Coins of Destruction (Golden Tokens) which are used in obtaining Degree 16 items!

Common Questions & Thoughts:

1.) When can we expect to see this update?

Soon! Korean SRO (KSRO) has OFFICIALLY begun teasing Legend 23, meaning that it can be expected within the next couple weeks or months.
Based on the monthly-bimonthly maintenance schedule of KSRO, I can confidently estimate that the patch will be applied sometime in June or July!

2.) Is this update ONLY for kSRO?

NO! Other official locales typically receive the same/similar updates as kSRO about 6 months ~ 1 year later, or less. ISRO, in particular, trails behind by approximately 1 year.
All official clients (ISROR, RUSRO, TRSRO, KSRO, CSRO, TWSRO) ALL have this client information, indicating that every official locale will eventually receive the update!

3.) Can we expect more to be added to the patchlist?

Maybe, but unlikely. Joymax has a tendency to slowly and sparsely release content, giving the community the bare minimum. What I CAN say is that there is a TON of unreleased content still in the client waiting to be used.
From Shambhala Dungeons, to Ghost Hunt & Guild Annihilation Tournament events, there is still A LOT that is left to be desired.

This is crazy, thanks for sharing.

I asked last week joymax if they bring a new update. That was their reply.

"We have plan for new update. We decide to open new update, we'll announce it to you."

I hope that the alchemy on d16 and d17 is not more expensiv then d15.

And the best part is that the new tombs are for higher lvl player, so gold bots have no chance getting inside. This might reduce bot traffic, since d14/d15 loses value.

The first video is the upper-part of the Secret Tomb, yes, but the system is not official (nobody knows EXACTLY how it will work, just theories based on the pk2 contents).

The last two videos are Shambhala dungeons (DUNGEON_DEMON_B, DUNGEON_DEMON_C), and they are not expected to be released during this patch.

Well, I don’t know about good or bad, but it does seem that ISROR is preparing for such an update. If you check the statistics on FB, forum etc., it is easy to notice that Joymax has increased the amount of promotion they are doing over the last year.

That, while also stopping creating new servers every 6 months (the expected January server was never announced/opened!), indicates that Joymax is likely trying to shift attention to the old and currently open servers. This update is targeted towards them, after all. It’s definitely coming and definitely coming soon—not just to KSRO, but ISRO too!

When KSROR made it official that such stuff was coming and officially published the teasers and information, it made sense to post it now, since it's for sure and really coming.

I'm not in any race or competition with anyone to release such information, only to inform the community. If I was, trust that there would be way more stuff released by me by now :D

Does not JSROR more updated than KSRO? Its just recived update from v117 to v118. Ill look inside and tell what is new inside and compare to KSRO witch im currently updating.

Each regional version has its own up-to-date aspects.
But giant updates always come to the korean version.
It is then brought to the global version and regional versions.
The upcoming legend 23 update brings at least 2 different degree items and new maps.

So, what is so special about this update?

More recycled content, the pay2win aspects of the game will go on and more whatever ugly abominations will come to life on the live servers.

They should have and could have learned a lot of things from the most successful private servers out there. Hell, even follow the "World of Warcraft - Classic" model.

Instead, they were sending out Dazinuda head on while opening the same cash grab cancer inducing copy-paste servers every 6 months.
I get that it's exciting to see any form of content coming form them, but it's probably gonna be a disappointment.

It's a miracle they have yet not closed the game down for good.

The game died around 2014 and around cap 110 is when things went totally awry.

They should have reduced the pay2win aspects of the game back in 2008/9
-> balanced out the classes and races;
-> listen to the community while doing some heavy advertising;
-> add new races and content (such as dungeons, new features, systems, etc.);
-> probably update the game engine around 2013/4 and progress the game from there while also keeping a few servers on the lv.80/90/100 forever.

But these are greedy Koreans we're talking about.

While not perfect, they could have taken the examples of other Korean/Chinese/Western MMORPGs such as Jade Dynasty, Black Desert Online, World of Warcraft, Guild Wars, etc., to implement and add SOME of what they have, some of their features and business plans all while trying their best to maintain the aspect of the original game; to keep what makes SRO, SRO.
There are so many systems that could have been implemented within the game engine's reach.
