Let's create a Silkroad Online private server by the community, for the community!

Dear fellow Silkroad Online players,

I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits.

As a former player of iSRO, I recently returned to the game and decided to explore some private servers. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing due to various issues, such as unbalanced gameplay, pay-to-win models, and controlling Game Masters.

This made me realize that we, the players, have the power to create a server that truly reflects our desires and needs. That's why I'm proposing to develop a community-inspired private server where every aspect of the game will be based on your feedback. We want to create a server that is truly by the community, for the community.

To achieve this, we need a team that is also part of the community. We'll be looking for full-time, part-time, and freelance positions to ensure that everyone who wants to contribute has the opportunity to do so. And when it comes to promoting the game, we'll rely on our influencers and content creators to spread the word.

If you guys encourage me to do this, I'll even raise the challenge bar, and announce that we have a challenge to finalize this server in under 30 days to fully launch. Are you with me on this journey?

Let's create a Silkroad Online private server that we can be proud of. Your thoughts and feedback are greatly appreciated.

With love and enthusiasm

Hi,
You hit the nail on the head with the "such as unbalanced game-play, pay-to-win models, and controlling Game Masters" statement.
Such thing not gonna happen, probably. You may find a bunch of friends and set up a server for the bunch of you, however a large scale project like that is likely to not happen.

People move on, new games cannot compete with SRO (unless you play it for nostalgia purposes) and people are generally trashy. The complain about the most stupid things, attempt to hack and scam you and generally have the most grotesque, eye bleaching game requirements such as wings and disgusting effects.
Players are so demanding and server owners would cater to that. It's like a symbiotic, parasitic-ish relationship.

This community has its own special kind of rotten flavor and that is not gonna change anytime soon.
They (the community/players) simply spew toxic shit at you for no reason at all, and that's simply a reflection of their real life circumstances.
Nobody in their right mind would be looking to start a fight/be mean to some online stranger if their real life had any tint of happiness. Just log in game in one of those private servers and see for yourself.

I do not wish to discourage you. I'd say go ahead and try it because that's way better than living with the regret of not having tried.
There was a similar thread some time ago, perhaps it's worth checking it out. I'm sure you'd benefit from the input of others, too.

These days I got a bunch of Discord buddies (but most of the time I play alone when I need my nostalgia fix) and we play on [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] to cater to my nostalgia needs.
I kinda suggest you do the same first. Create the server you wish to see.

After all, it would be great to learn some development skills before attempting to open a server, even if such server is non-profit play2win.

If only we were united...and if we were, would we be called necromancers?

Hi,

Thank you for taking the time to respond and share your thoughts.

However, I am still excited about the idea and would love to connect with you and discuss it further. Perhaps we can share our experiences and ideas, and see if there is a way to address some of the issues you mentioned.

I believe that despite the challenges, there is still a lot of potential in creating a Silkroad Online server that truly reflects the desires and needs of the community. And who knows, maybe with enough effort and collaboration, we can help bring about a more positive and supportive environment within the community.

Please let me know if you're interested in chatting more about this, and we can set up a time to connect. Thank you again for your feedback, and I hope to hear back from you soon.

Thanks =)
