Getting started in sro dev

Hello guys, I'm an oldschool silkroad online player since 2006, however i'm feeling kind of nostalgic and i want to get back to the game but not as a player this time, i wanna see what's under the hood. How can i get started in silkroad online development ? I have no clue how silkroad online files work

But I'm a data scientist, so I'm good with SQL/Python and I know some C++ any advice/guide where to get started on this?

I even forgot my old epvp account and I had to create this one to ask, thanks in advance guys:)

the question is: What is your goal?

Begin with small steps, research how to setup a server and get your first one working with login...then go on with customization :)

You should start with vsro188 original released files (blitzkrieg files by chernobyl)

my goal is creating, e.g. messing with the GUI, adding new buttons with certain functions, introducing new features to the game and so on, I already did download that and ill be experimenting but I wonder where should I start digging deep to create new stuff.

I'll be treating this like my toy, you know?
