Idk. Don't let me tell you how you should feel about it, because I'm pretty sure it's your work and I know you generally prefer small, private groups over public releases. But if I were the author, then I wouldn't have a problem with sharing code that encrypts assets. Because if it were open-source, then more servers could use and remix it to obfuscate their work as well, which seems like a big positive to me. I'm always a fan of public tooling that enables others to do better, more creative work safely.
Maybe there's a compromise somewhere in there though... like, I would absolutely love if the community picked a patch like 5017 and made an open-source reverse engineering project. That way, people could more easily make their own detours and edits (like myself, who generally doesn't have the time to start an effort like that). Just food for thought. I'm more or less just rambling now. Lol
