The end of the year is approaching and a ton of games are expected in the next few weeks. However, the water is rather calm at CD Projekt, which is moving ahead with its projects in all discretion. That's not to say that the studio is letting itself go, and it's actually preparing a slew of content for its two successful franchises, The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077.
The succession of the wizard?
On Twitter, the company detailed all the projects in progress, which will arrive gradually and over the long term. If we already knew that a new The Witcher saga was in development, we now know that it will be a trilogy. The first entry is codenamed Polaris and will follow in the tradition of the games in the first franchise. We don't know yet if Geralt of Riv will be the hero, but it seems unlikely given the lynx mask that has replaced the wolf one.
Still related to The Witcher, CD Projekt tells us about Sirius and Canis Majoris. The former is a game developed by The Molasses Flood and will offer players a single player experience as well as a multiplayer mode. The second is an exclusively single-player game that will be set in the universe of The Witcher but completely outside the new trilogy.
2077 and more if affinities
When it comes to Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt's teams won't be idle either. The firm says that the expansion DLC named Phantom Liberty is in final development. More than 350 people are currently working on the project and it is expected to be released in 2023. The studio reveals the future of the franchise, with a game called Orion (for now) that should be a direct sequel to Cyberpunk 2077.
Finally, CD Projekt Red announces a brand new franchise that is for the moment named Hadar. We don't have any information about it yet except the fact that this new license is still in the early stages of creation. The development hasn't even officially started yet, and the teams are struggling to build a solid base in terms of narrative and universe before moving on. The whole thing is cleverly summarized in an explanatory video that I'll put right here :
