Client Launcher with auto update

Hello,


Any guide on how to create a launcher with an auto update using GLS tool?

what to you mean "but via the luncher game won't start"

Yes it does if you know what you're doing, actually, thats the easyest part ever of private server hosting.
If you know what launcher does then you should know what it needs to work...

I can't source in packaging

I can't open game with launcher
still bat. i am using

There are no videos about this wrapper
about this wrapper launcher
there is no complete file

I still haven't found it because I didn't learn from the air :D

I have launcher source files and I believe once DOS shared something about launcher...
There is launcher source files around here, there has been conversation about launcher, information is around.
I have not seen video myself about launcher, but it is obvious of what its doing.

You don't necessarily need launcher source, unless you want to make extra changes...

No one is learning from the air, must do research since not everyone sharing useful knowledge
or give out they're work, especially here as I have quited here...

And it's disgusting...

BUT

1. Launcher downloads updated files
2. Launcher replacing new files with the old ones.

But launcher does not download actual client files, it downloads .DAT format files.
To get that format you do actually need "patch maker" and that is also somewhere here...

You use client files that you updated to pack/convert/compile all of the files in to single .DAT file format.
(If updated files gets too large, you split them, though it is optional)
Launcher will open up the .DAT file and extracts the updated client files in to the client.

Then question is how to get it to download... well doesn't FTP be obvious, it uses FTP service
and if you run live server you already have FTP...

To connect to your FTP, well thats where GLS.img file come in...
You put correct information in GLS file then there is no issue using launcher instead of lousy .bat file...

All that can be done easily, done in live and local, works just fine...

Now you know what you need for the launcher.

Don't know why I even bothered to talk about that... :thinking:

good for you, but if you go live, make sure password is not in GLS.img
that way you wont expose your stuffs,
especially if your ftp service is running on same vps as server.

To remove password from GLS.img, you do need launcher source files and write the password in Launcher.exe
You could even remove IP from GLS.img and write it on Launcher.exe
It also means no one else wont be even able to use your launcher for they're own work/project.

So you keep GLS.img as launcher design, open up the game and some small extra stuff...

Its what I have done.
