a couple of days ago i saw an avatar i liked on a different server than what i use
and wanted to import it with pk2 editing,
Issues i faced:
1) i could not find it in the other game's data pk2 directly because it was saved with another name than what it is displayed with
2) and also because the avatar is alien from my game's pk2 (i mean its files never exsited on my server)
the game crashed when importing .bsr files only
so i needed:
1) to find the avatar's/item name in the other game files
2) to find all its relative files to place in my game
Here's what i did
1) open GM console to find the respective code to the name
a. setup console
b. open console
c. press F3 to view all items in game
d. find what i am looking for
in my case [ ITEM_MALL_AVATAR_M_ITSNAME Avatar name ]
(you can find online how to setup and use GM console)
2) go to media.pk2 \server_dep\silkroad\textdata\ and extract all the text files there
use search in windows explorer to find this [ ITEM_MALL_AVATAR_M_ITSNAME ]
this will lead you to the .bsr file name and location path
3) from the data.pk2 find and extract this file using the location path you now know.
4) open the .bsr file using a text edior and you will find also the .bmt .bms, ddj files locations
(these are needed else the game will crash if the item is new to your server)
the ddj is in the same location of bmt
4) now we have the bsr, bms, bmt, ddj for the item you want
5) find the locations for bsr, bms, bmt, ddj for the item you want to replace and extract them
6) using windows explorer
a. put the bsr file of the item you want to use inside the folder of item you want to replace,
b. change to the name TO the one you want to replace
c. overwrite files
7) using the editor tool put in the data.pk2 the newly named bsr file in its respective place
and also put the bmt, bms, ddj (without modifying their names its ok as the bsr file does use the original names for them)
8) open your game
sorry this is a quick note, just for anyone experienced with pk2 edits and may need a quick tip to pass a step, for general info, may be needed in special cases not all,
