All in one guide to kill your image

Hello,

sometimes it is very hard to kill your mirrorimage at rock of augury. This will guide you, therefore it won't be that hard.

1st: This is for the mesmers around here.
Skill "controlmagics" as high as possible.
Needed skills: Empathie, Backfire and one fast castable magic with low manacosts.

Skip the video, focus your image and cast empathie quickly. If he didn't cast backfire then it is your turn. Cast backfire and let him cast the fast castable magic with low manacosts. Much dmg will be dealt to him and empathie gives him the rest.

Here are sum pics:





2nd: The warrior. Thats pretty easy. Just skill your weapon and take fury with you.

As you see him quickly go to him. DON'T cast fury. If he casts it, you will deal doubledamage. That will kill him in a few seconds.

3rd: The monk. This is ultra hard if your seccond class is not mesmer or warrior.

In the worst case, you have to kill your image with monkskills. You won't get it at once, so repeat this patiently.

Skill smitingprayers. Take only punishment with you. The trick is following: You dodge his bowattacks. He attacks all the time, so he will get extra dmg from punishment. This extra dmg will finaly kill your image.

4th: The necromancer. I don't have a character with this class, but i think you need sacrifceskills. Then kill him with one hard blow.


5th: The ranger.. hmm no idea, maybe someone else knows a way..!

the monk isn that hard
just take healing breeze, holy wrath and retriution
cast holy wrath and retribiution before u go in fight with the mirrorimage
when u are in fight cast healing breeze imidiately (sry for bad english^^)

the image doesnt cast the breeze so u just have to wait and if u are low on health dodge the bow-attacks and recast the breeze if u have 10 mana again


as ranger u can kill him on 2 ways:

1. u take only bow-attacks with u and go near to the mirrorimage. he will switch to axe and u can kill him

2. u take only things like traps, rituals and preparations with u
he won´t attack u often so u can shoot him away

After they toned down the Doppelganger the whole kill your mirror thingie became insanely easy, even though they bugfixed some of the tricks to beat him.
First of, you should know that the Doppelganger casts his spells in order from 1 to 8 mostly. So if you want him to cast some rubbish while you spam him with backfire... put it at the end of the skillbar and pray a bit.

Anyways... i'm focussing on lowlevel characters and how they should beat their image.

Warrior
The warrior class is one of the most easy ones to beat the Doppelganger. The skill Term!nX mentioned though is Frenzy/Raserei and not Fury. I guess thats some kind of translation side effects.

Ranger
You can do it in two ways mostly. One of which is to pack up on several useless long casting nature rituals. Put those into the left half of your skillbar and the enemy will be dead by the time he would reach the normal attack skills.
Another option, while not being the fasts: Bring Troll Unguent/Trollsalbe and Distracting Shot/Ablenkschuß and some attack skills. Get personal with your mirror. He will switch to his Axe. Just use your Troll Unguent and go for it. Whenever he tries to heal himself with Troll Unguent just interrupt and block it with your Distracting Shot. The funny thing is, that he can't use his bow attacks while you're close to him. Easy match.

Mesmer
They are indeed one of the most easy classes to beat the Doppelganger. As Term!nX said, just skill on Domination based skills. A very nice and fastcasting spell to get spammed with is Wastrel's Worry. If your backfire is up first he'll kill himself in seconds flat. You can get Wastrels Worry in Quarrel Falls or from the "guide some lazy henchmen folks to the ascalon settlement" Quest in North Kryta.

Necromancer
The easy, yet failsafe way to do it just needs two skills: Enfeeble/Schwächen + Insidious Parasite/Heimtückischer Parasit. As soon as the battle starts, cast enfeeble on your enemy followed by your insidous Parasite. Good game, now just wait and see him die. Takes a while but sure is failsafe.

Elementalist
Oh well, go in, spam spells, go out. Done dio.

Monk
They fixed the exploit where he would not cast healing breeze. Nowadays he does, yet he is still not much of a problem. The holy wrath + retribution method has a major downside, you're a sitting duck and it is mostly a race about who has more hitpoints.
If i were a monk i would abuse one of the secondary class weaknesses about the Doppelganger. Safes a lot of trouble and time. Though smiting skills are the way to go if you insist on trying it the "pure class" way.
