How does bot work

Hi there,

Im a developer and I was wondering how bot that analyze screen detect things such as monster or map to fight them and do the whole random level without dying.

I can understand how they can do pindle because that boss is always at the same location. But detecting monster, avoiding them when low hp and such things, I don't really know how to do it without reading game memory.

Any advice to get me started?
