Where to start for building your own pserver

Hi, i've been studying computer science for 4 years and I wanted to start my own Nostale Private Server but since it is a very niche subject, there isn't a lot of documentation out there

I started with NosCore but once on the server I realised that it's basically just 30% of Nostale since you can't even attack mobs and given how many servers open every day ( sometimes hosted by newbies tbh ), I'm wondering if NosCore is used for them ?

Are there any guide or websites or elaborated cores that would help me create the server ? Like most things ready so I just need to tweaks database for maps, items etc

Thanks a lot

Most servers actually use OpenNos (or some of its forks), which are poorly designed, have a lot of flaws and therefore are not recommended if you take it serious. There aren't any good public open source emulators available so you'd probably want to develop your own emulator and modding tools from scratch. Like really from scratch. Don't try to get inspired by how others did it or hire former OpenNos developers, because you/they will likely just repeat the same mistakes.

So are you saying that most servers posted here all started to rebuild the emulator from scratch ? (from OpenNos, from NosCore, or even really from the ground up)
And they are all private and not famous at all ?
For me, I see it as there is somewhere an exchange market for emulators (free or not) but I just can't see how. If I had to pay 100€ to have my own emulator i'd do it but no idea where haha

Also, starting litteraly from scratch is very complicated, it took years for the first emulators to appear so I don't see how so many small servers pop up if you have to start from scractch

So you saying eastmile not take it serious ? they made a lot of money in 1 year with opennos server nosbyte made same or more with nosbyte server u just have to get a strong vps and done lol. if u just want to kill the kidd dreams just don't speak D its that easy as just rework inventory - character life dao add good save system some async tcp protection bla bla done. u can handle 200 players or more with 40 euros vps if not don't rework anything and buy 500 euros vps :kappa:

Every known servers out there are based on OpenNos, some are deeply reworked, some have just some more functionnality.
If you want to use OpenNos, there are many tutorials out there, you can google it easily "tutorial Opennos", but keep in mind the project is dead, and therefore, you won't have the latest features. (But you'll have a bonus feature : random crashes, dupes and bugs :D )

So most servers just get OpenNos, run it, change some items and that's it ? Because I tried that with NosCore and it wasn't the case haha, maybe OpenNos is different, i'll give it a shot

That's it, but keep in mind that OpenNos is really buggy and laggy

That's because NosCore isn't anywhere near complete, Opennos had functionality.
