I'm planning on going from CoEmu to 5165...
good idea? bad idea? better ideas?
Please give me some advise...
I don't know what to do. =[

Better than using tanel's 5165.
I suggest that.

Advise really isn't my strong point, but here goes.

To me, it depends whether your in this scene to; learn how to code effectively, or get a server running, or possibly both.

It comes down to whether you've got the patience, because in the long run it will benefit you, I suggest just starting your own project, EVEN if, your just looking at other sources, tidying the code up a little and placing it into your own server, the way you organize the structure and your coding style will fit your server, making it much more efficient. Then when you get increasingly better, which no doubt you will after your first attempt. You can re-write etc, like I said depends what your overall aims are.

If patience is not a virtue of yours, I suggest using Hybrids source as a base.

I can't really comment on any public released sources cause they're all just disgusting and I can't bare to look at them, having no actually checked Hybrid's out myself, his reputation implies the coding standard will be supreme and efficient. Great learning material IMO.

So... Hybrids source... it has nothing working in it?
I don't fully understand where I would be starting from if I used Hybrid's source.

They call that square one. When you move to square 2 from 1 it's called progress.

And quite honestly tanels 5165 source is totally fixable.
It's just letters numbers, dashes, periods, and brackets arranged differently.

use hybrids if u want to learn
use tanels if u want to play fast.

How do you fix it?

I really like the flat file format. I'm looking at 5095 and it's SQL.
I guess what I'm saying is that I know the source well now...
getting rid of it would be terrible... I've done all my work on it

How do you fix it..? Very carefully

And I'm not quite sure what you see in flatfile, but shes ugly.

flatfiles and ini are the best in my opinion. SQL is too vulnerable

lol =P

Well I'll give it a try... (5095) ...
but I'm not sure of My SQL is right for me.
I hope it is...

What about this "simple" source? what's the link?
EDIT: Found it in Arco's chat: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

One more question...
Is it possible to make horses in Conquer 1.0?

Hence SHA256 encryption for SQL servers.

If you don't like MySQL there is always MS SQL and PostgreSQL.

I have examples of a source using PostgreSQL if you wish

You know what...
i'm going to stick with 5165.
I'm going to do what I do best because my server is almost perfect except for that problem. I've put so much work and dedication into it.

Maybe when I face the problem someone will be kind enough to give me the fix... but until then, I'm going to learn as much as possible so when I do face the problem, I might be able to fix it.
