How to remove Darters for Fafhogg

Darters are now very weird. If you take the darter file which is I believe ROM5/81.dat out of your POL folder like you used to be able to, it will now lag/crash your game. They did this so people can't have darters out of the way. This goes for the same in any area with that model, such as Dunes/Meriphetaud Mountains and so forth. There is a way though to remove darters. When I get home I can upload the file you need. You replace your 81.dat (make a backup of it incase you ever want to see darters again) and put in the file, it is an animation file of nothing, so you can't target it, and nothing is in your way, essentially, you have no darters anymore and can do target on fafnir faster again. This file will verify on check of 81.dat so you don't get crashed anymore.

Actually I'll post both, the correct darter file, and the fake darter file, so if you somehow delete or lose your 81.dat original you have a backup to go to.

Default Directory is C:\Program Files\PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ROM\5\81.dat

Yea I actually made my own for this. It works like a charm too, no darters in the pit for me! I also have a batch file setup where if I need darters to show, for exp or something, I will run show_darters.bat and there is hide_darters.bat which hides them :)

They are flies that infest the pit where Fafnir and Nidhogg pop in Dragon's Aery. They dont aggro, however they link like crazy, and are really easy to aggro because you are trying to claim faf/nid asap. A lot of people just... get rid of em ;)
