1. Setting Up Basic Mods

Client modification is very simple, requires very little effort if you know what you're doing, or have the proper instruction.

Required programs to do this are WinRAR, Mabiunpack or MabiPackageTool, I prefer the MabiPackageTool It's more user friendly. They both do basically the same thing.

WinRAR:

Firstly you will need to establish where your "Root Folder" is. Default is "C:\Nexon\Mabinogi"
Secondly, you will need a modified Memory Patch. Also known as "IJL15"

Open the file and extract to your root folder

This enables several things, which is listed in the post of the download.

Next, you want a basic mod set-up.

Tiara's Moonshine Mod Package (By Amaretto): [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] (In the last folder)

This has many things. Removal of Boss/Trans cut-scenes, Removal of Dungeon Fog, among many other things.

Now, if all you want is a basic mod set-up. You're done :D Don't bother reading more unless you want to know how to do basic PMG swaps.

2. How to do PMG swaps Part 1 (Already Compiled in Files on Mabimods)

PMG Swapping is very simple, if you are just putting in an already created mod from the "Files" section (Located to the left under Sitemap) it takes no work hardly at all.

Most people who upload files use WinRAR or archive their mods with the correct file-path already set-up. So it's as simple as downloading, opening the file and pushing the "Extract to" Button at the top of WinRAR then directing it to your "root folder" (C:\Nexon\Mabinogi By default) then starting the client. Try it now, using the "Akutsuki Slender Robe" Mod, just because it's simple. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Open the file, Press Extract to and extract it to your root folder. That's all there is to it! :D

If you are wanting to put in something that isn't listed, and your not sure where to start read whats below.

How to do PMG swaps Part 2 (Putting in something you choose)

[color=blue]This is a more complicated part of PMG swaps for Noobies to the modding world. This is where MabiUnpack or the MabiPackageTool comes in handy.

Firstly, Find what it is you are wanting to mod in and what you want to replace.

Example: Tail Cap -> Goggle Cap

First, run MabiUnpack or the MabiPackageTool

2. Press open (File > Open on MabiUnpack. (Chinese Letters Here)F > (Chinese Letters) O)

3. Navigate to C:\Nexon\Mabinogi\Package and open the pack tool (I.e 46_Full.pack This might not be your number)
4. In the tree open to Data\DB and scroll down to find "Itemdb.xml" and extract it ( Extract > Selected File in MabiUnpack. Right click it and click (Chinese letters)E) to your desktop.

5. Right click Itemdb.xml Open With> Notepad or Wordpad
6. Press Ctrl+F and type in "Tail Cap" you will find this You are looking for this line File_MaleMesh="male_casual016_h02" File_FemaleMesh="female_casual016_h02"
Those are the names of the .pmg File.

Now, do the same for "Goggle" (I will leave this up to you guys, so that you can find it if you've been paying attention, What good is it if i just paste both codes ;P)

Next go back into MabiUnpack or MabiPackageTool and navigate to Data\Gfx\Char\Human\Male\Helmet or Female if you are female

Find the Goggle Cap PMG (Nope still letting you do the work on this :D) And extract it to your data folder in the same file path. If you do not have this file path, create whichever folder you need.

Once you have the file in place, re-name it to the correct PMG name. Which is in the code above "male_casual07_h02" or "female_casual07_h02" MAKE SURE YOU KEEP .pmg AT THE END OF THE FILE

For those of you who cannot find what you are looking for via Itemdb. You can try using the PMG Veiw Express: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
It's a nifty tool that lets you open and view .Pmg files. Via Drag and drop. Download and save it to your desktop, run it. If you get an error google "d3dx9_37.dll" and follow the instructions on how to install it. Or update your DirectX. Afterwards double click a PMG and set this program as the default .exe to open the .pmg extension.

I suggest using MabiPackageTool if you're going to do it this way, as all you have to do is Double click and it will open in the Viewer without having to extract it, so OPEN AWAY :D You can preview what they look like this way, no textures or color but it is handy.
