[Question]About my computer

02/28/2010 14:58 tuvsci#1
I bought a new computer before 5 months or something like that.
and I was able to run 10 Silkroad clients without lags and the game was working slippery and good.
right now I just back sro after more than 4-5 months ,and I installed the game and when I'm playing I have a little bit stuck even with 1 client that are working in the computer - and the client is working in low resolution.
I don't know what happen but it's really wired because Silkroad is not heavy game or something ,my computer should run it without problems ... and I still have lags :\
this is my computer pocket :

processor:
AMD PHENOM II X3 710
motherboard:
GIGABYTE GA-MA78GM-US2H

PALIT HD4870 SONIC 512MB GDDR5 - RETAIL ₪774

SAMSUNG F1 1TB 32MB SATA2 7200 RPM : HD103UJ

G.SKILL 4096MB (2048MBX2) DDR2 800 CL5-5-5-15 - F2-6400CL5S-4GBNT

Silver Power 500W 34A@12V SS-500ET-APFC-F3 SeaSonic Production
-------------------------------------------------
I thought the game don't work good maybe cause my internet not the best (I have 2.5MB) ,but I checked out other games that are not in the internet and they stuck a little too so it's really wired ...
I hope someone will can help me to solve this problem and tell me what happen here ... I'm waiting for answers guys ,thanks.

Overheating seems to be the problem, but since this is not the right section, you could try some computer tech forums,or the offtopic section.

hm have you changed the power supply? It looks weak when u described the computer specifications. You should check if there's some settings you have made. so u cant run the pc to 100%

wrong! computer overheated = shutdown/screen freezing. NO performance will be different if the computer is hot/cool!

also WRONG :D
500Watt is enough for his pc!if it wouldn't be, his pc would either freeze/shutdown, it would beep all the time after pressing the power button, or it simply would blow up the power supply ;)

now my theory: silkroad client changed a little bit.. higher resolutions are supported, the maps are bigger, there are more mobs etc etc etc.
in case you're running vista... well.. forget performance with such operating system.
if you're using xp..well..think about this: xp was built in 2001 (that's 9 years ago!!) time to change ;)
win 7 is way better in handling multi-graphical processes and tasking them to several cores (cpu cores).

If you installed a lot of crap on your machine in the past months, then it's no wonder that your machine gets "tired"..
dirty os containing 100 start-up programs/services like msn,icq,winamp, whatever ^^

make sure you take useless start-up stuff out (like winamp agent for example).
you could also take a look in your graphic card control panel (catalyst center) and take stuff OUT like anisotropic filtering or anti-aliasing.
set everything on "high performance".. the quality will be poor, but it will run.

Another thing you should deactivate (On silkroad) is the "shadow" thing.
the most consuming thing on silkroad is the shadow display. just try deactivating it (no, NOT "circle".. DEACTIVATED)

if i find something else, i could post it..
unfortunately that's a matter of 100 configs you got on your pc, and I'm not the guru to guess what setting does your machine have ;)

finally: i recommend you switching to windows 7 as operating system.

before it came out, and i was using vista, i was thinking about buying a new machine because it was too slow.. after i switched to it, i didn't have the need to buy a new machine anymore ;)

"500Watt is enough for his pc!"
That's not always true..
Maximum is 500 watt but Silver is no name crap..
@ BEQuiet or Enermax or something like that expensive things we could say "enough".
500Watt is not enough to know..
There are 12V cable and so on...

u have antivir programm and messengers I think.
Everything takes Ram and CPU usage.
If u have lots of that programs u will get instability.
Try to close some programms.
Look in process list.Clear programms u don't know.
02/28/2010 22:46 silkbotter#6
like svchost.exe :D
(joke)
antivir sucks anyway ^^

well... you also could have some kind of virus slowing down your machine.
but probably not..

silkbotters can i ask you what changes in the cleint that have been made during theese months he was gone ? You said that the maps are bigger? I havent seen that update during those months. And Yes the Power supply is quite small if u compare it with the other computer specifications he got. I would reccomend that you get atleast 750W

He can get 1200 Watt if it still no name crap = no change.
He need 450Watt BEquiet or Enermax thats good PSU's.
I tip for another problem.
But an nice PSU is not wrong.

Im doing crossfire of 2x5850 on a Corsair 650hx and I got no problems.
Mostlikely his pc wont start if the PSU cant handle the power it needs. If he doesnt do overclock that PSU is enough.
I recommend a cleaning of your pc and a fresh install of Windows 7.Make sure to get the most updated drivers and you'll be good to go.

500W power supply is cutting it a bit short, but that isnt why you have lag issues with Silkroad. Sadly, without more info, like your Operating System, i cant help.

You couldn't be more wrong. A hot PC is a slow PC.

Windows Vista takes much Ram in the background.
Maybe thats the reason.

1.Defrag your HDD
2.Check your computer for viruses with your antivirus programm.
3.If you have overclocked GPU or CPU make both to standart because that can be the reason.
4.Delete programm you don't need
5. [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] Download it (Trial version)
Run it that should clean your pc.

yea that's right the PS I wrote is not the one I have.
I have SEASONIC S12EP 650W...
I will try some of the things you suggested thanks guys

You couldn't be more wrong. A hot PC is a slow PC.
u cudnt be more correct.

well i dunno how its translated, but we bought a new computer for my brother this month, the newest of dell, 8gb ram,i7,500gb hdd, 1,8 ghz (each core), and 1 gb graphics drive (im not sure that if the ghz speed is correct tho), and it was beeping all the time, and it was gettin really HOT, so it slowed down. and then, we bought this "cooler" sort of thingie, which u put under the computer so it cools down the pc (it works by the power of the pc, u use a usb).

so yeah, ur fan might not be enough, causing ur pc to get real hot, which is causing ur pc to slow down

After u do that :
"1.Defrag your HDD
2.Check your computer for viruses with your antivirus programm.
3.If you have overclocked GPU or CPU make both to standart because that can be the reason.
4.Delete programm you don't need
5. TuneUp Utilities 2010 Download it (Trial version)
Run it that should clean your pc."

U should look for CPU and GPU temperature.
Just stress CPU and GPU.
Prime95 for CPU furmark for GPU!
CPU= processor GPU= graphic card
Run the tests together so your PSU is max used.
If your computer run instable check your temps.
U should see your own what is too high what is ok ;)
