Origin of Private Servers

Hello,

I'm curious how all the people were able to start a private server and I would like to know whats the origin of this? Are there any leaks of server files in the past by Joymax or are there some smart brains who reverse engineered all by their own?

Server files leaked in november 2011 from the Vietnamese version of the game and later many more files got leaked from Thailand, Taiwan, japan etc.

yeah , database - server file leaks.
now many guide, very easy to run a server.
harder to edit it

The first leak comes from JSRO with the CAP 90 (only Chinese version).

The second leak comes from VSRO, I hacked the test servers and get all files. I worked with a friend of mine (NoEx), in the mean time a German guy joined us to work altogether to build a server. However, he lied to us, instead of helping us, he shared the files on this forum and another one claiming he found the leak on VSRO. Which was a lie...

I had access to their servers during almost 2 years, getting all the latest updates. I took advantage of a Online server I got to download the files (faster internet connection) and saved them until I canceled my membership. So I downloaded all remaining files. Afterwards, Net2E closed all the ports and changed their passwords.

I'm not gonna tell you in details how we did it but it's been done through SQL-Server (it was reachable by everybody) then we got access to RDP.

I'm not sure, but the initially captured files were copied by ocean connecting to the cimo servers.ecsro ex mhtc

Yes you're right, the names ring a bell. it's csro not jsro. That was the best moment we ever had on SRO, cap 90. :)

None of these files/dbs are the ones that are being widely used. The version of VSRO files that most (~98%) of PSROs are running on, are v1.188 - which are older than these "alleged files/db" that you have, however I might have misunderstood what you were trying to prove with these screenshots.

just to explain the fact of the origin and proving it's not a fake or lie. That's all.

There are group of specific names known to public that actually did something for it to happen, a lot of this came out of another resource than epvp - over time it got copied, modified, overcopied and today it is the hell as it is just like other private mmorpgs.

I remember the days there were just like 2 private servers ecsro/swsro, today you have their files as the worst ones available. Then there were several public emulator attempts - some did very good as the industry was like all-open. Then the day came and vSRO got pwned, files got leaked, then they were released to public. Next came BlackRogue files and so it went in a chain as exploits were more easy to trace having the files...
