Current state of private servers?

As of now it looks like there's only 2-3 worth playing that are populated, seems the rest have died off. There's still a significant playerbase for all languages, but it seems development has died off.

Are there any teams in the works of private servers?

not sure but I made my own server it may not be the best but I did what I could I rather just play my server its not a Hamachi so no else can join what sucks im not sure how to get a vpn ip so other can join

just install hamachi and put the ip of hamachi instead of your 127.0.0.1 and let them join rooms with you, modify the launcher argument to your hamachi ip and now everyone can play with you. did you mean vps? because vpn isn't going to allow players to join with you, its called vps the one you might be referring to, there are many vps providers out there not sure if i can link their urls here so just search.

If you're behind CG-NAT you need a VPN with proper ports forwarded in order to allow others to connect to your server or if you have a dynamic IP then you can use the VPN's IP.
That applies to people running a server at home not leasing a server from a provider.

It's not exactly mine, but they're testing my "output" (and partially Anothers', since we shared source changes sometimes for each other)

Any kind of old epic server (e5/6/7) would be really nice!!
Still a lot of people there just waiting for a new project.
