its up to him actually to release smth and then request to remove it .. at the first place he managed to help others with this open source but if it has like copyrights or teamwork on that project with someone else he cannot for sure to lose that friend , its not about control ..its about morals, and yeah that's my useless sick opinion

Wow great analysis!! To be fair, that project wasn't for someone like you to mess with. Not only you don't have the brain to understand how it works, you will never get something out of it with your skills.
