A general knowledge of C# is all you need (if that). You're going to have to learn a lot along the way about conquer private servers, but that's something you'll have to learn by just getting your hands dirty and digging in. You'll learn along the way. I suggest start by trying to code simple things like an NPC.

Uhm... I appreciate that you want my input in particular, but there are plenty of talented members that can answer this. And, if I can be honest without too much judgement, I wasn't really planning on posting here anymore... not refusal or out of spite or anything like that. It's been hard to regain motivation and keep a strong interest. I got burned pretty hard from trying to work with the admins on community building and moderation, and I don't see things getting better here any time soon. My only reason for being here is community, and I don't really see much of that left. That, and it's hard to justify time here when the staff is looking for any reason to ban you. Keep an open mind and have a positive outlook; people will be happy to help you. And you know, if we can't build a community here, then we can find ways to connect through other means. Plain and simple.

As 12k said, a general understanding is necessary - I can back that claim. When I got started with Conquer Online programming, I already had base knowledge like if-else statements, switch statements, functions, etc. I really just went for it without asking anyone for a best method or advice. I knew what I wanted to do and I just went out and taught myself how. I remember there were a few times where I wanted to give up, but the community here is what kept me going, and I'm glad it did because things got a lot easier after that. Google is your friend, and hopefully the community will be here to help too. Good luck.
