[POLL] CH/EU or CH?

07/23/2018 12:07 [Wicked]#1
Hello guys,

I wanted to ask your opinion and reasoning for your choice. Do you like/want to play a server which is only CH or EU/CH.

Personally, I like CH and EU servers as they bring more to the table in terms of PVP and gear choices as well as how you build your characters to counter the opposite classes/races.

Of course that is my personal opinion and want to hear yours. Also, drop a vote in the poll.

Looking forward to see some good arguments (Salty ones will be ignored).

If you want money, high populated server, go ch only
If you want fun, low populated server, go eu/ch

Why would a fun low populated server be for eu/ch. To be completely honest, I've seen more EU/CH servers succeed over the years than CH only servers.

Of course they shut down due to poor management and wanting to be a quick cash grab.

It's all about how do you measure "success", for some people having a low populated server with enough fun is success (look at Warriors Way), for some other people, having a stable system, even if everyone quits at the end is already a success (look at Emerald), for some people, having a high populated server to get thousands/millions of $ with the same features and new cosmetics is success (look at Electus and pretty much all other ch-only servers)

Personally, I will always prefer CH+EU, the best server I played was around 3 years ago, we were only 2 guilds and the server didn't have more than 100 real players, but guess what? It was fun, we enjoyed it until the end, the last FW was unforgettable. But well, a server without players can't stand much, even the most loyal players will eventually quit. But for me, that server totally succeed. Even if they couldn't reach 1 year online or they didn't get enough money to pay server's bill, it succeed in terms of gameplay and competitivity, which for me was more than enough.

I fully understand and agree with the points you make. The community is 98% of the server. The other 2% are the Management. In simple terms if you can manage the server in a way to keep the community active and interested without breaking everything and being a cash grab everything is going to go well and the community will respect you for it.

When euros came, game broke af!

Just, in my opinion, I would create a project that I'm able to update when the community asks me too. for example, create a low cap only CH ---> after a while (based on your community) update it to a higher cap --> after a while (based on your community) add EU ---> after a while (based on your community) increase the cap again. That way you can keep your players entertained instead of reaching the max content and you will end up asking yourself ''then what !'' it's just a tip .. the longer you can keep your server alive, the more logical you can call it a success as a private project.

People are with different taste keep it in mind, try to get both ;)

I would prefer EU+CH Server, But the community itself is afraid to join any server got this race, It is about the balance, Joymax fucked up the balance that's why a lot of people are afraid from that part, If you managed to do smth new then go ahead, something can make them interested, like new 3d models, new weapons, new mastery, I mean to rebuild the eu race itself from scratch, with that way maybe the community would try your server ( I'm sure from that )

Thank you for your input and opinions. I really love to hear everyone's point (when it's not 2 words).

Spidy has some really valid points but I don't believe a cap increase is 100% needed for a server to succeed.

I won't go on with that as this thread is for something else entirely. Why do you believe that CH or CH+EU is better (in your mind and words) and what are the solutions to the negatives.

It all depends on how you define succes for a private server.
It's not enough to choose a server succes by its races.
ECSRO, SJSRO, SWSRO, ZSZCSRO they were CH only and they had success.
ISRO AND OTHERS official servers were CH and EU and they had success.

chinise and europe more fun

Like most of the people said Euro and Chinese is the best if you are looking for more fun ( opinions may vary in this point) , but this also depends upon your view of the word "success". I've played in a server that lasted for 5 years (Silkcore-Falcon) it was populated when it launched and as any other private server over the years its population began to decrease until there was like maximum of 200 real players. Just to point something out , that server never had IP and HWID limits at all , botting was allowed , but the main thing was that the content provided for that server made the players actually play the game and to be more honest it wasn't only the content of the server it was the competition between the guilds in there even though it was only like 3 or 4 guilds around. Not to say that the development of that server was kind of slow , adding new stuff was slow too but the players had fun with what was there already and when new things where added then the fun was doubled. I'm 100% sure that the owner didn't get that much donations as everything could be achieved by playing in the game but still it was successful.

What I see now is that the problem is not only with that the server is only CHN or EUR , or not even only the server owner. Yeah I agree with the part that there are greedy server owners who already have their plans to open their server for 6 month to 1 year but still the community or the players of that exact server decided if its going to continue or not. You can say its kind of a luck factor , Not trying to offend any of the big guilds here but if you are only going to target them then your server will fail as soon as another big server is out there , but if you managed to get some relaxed and chill people who wants to play the game just for the sake of some fun or some guild wars or FW which to achieve that they will do the basic things in game which can keep them occupied like doing alchemy , killing uniques , doing job and the list continues of the basic Silkroad stuff that people forgot about then you are lucky to keep and active playerbase even if it was small.

Wonder why there are so many servers with greedy owners; myself, as a player from years ago, I feel like if I knew how to open a server I would do my best to entertain players and attract as many as possible for the longest time possible. Where are people like that is my concern
