Unsticking the HELP THREAD

You may have noticed or maybe not that today the "HELP THREAD" has been removed from the sticky threads.

Most members posting in the forums do not see it or use it at first until it has been pointed out to them anyway.

We aim to encourage rather than discourage people to post in the forums. So if someone posts a thread asking a question instead of directing them to a thread where they will only have to repeat their question over again, I would like for them to receive answers if people have answers for them.

I am making this post so that our current members are aware of this change and to discourage people from trying to redirect to a help thread that is now harder to find.

Instead of a help conglomeration thread we will be working on a developing FAQ thread instead which should be more helpful in the long run.

a sticked help thread that has over 500k useful comments will be nice to reach if it was sticked, however, if there's no alternative for the meantime I recommend to stick it back ^^ until we figure something more useful.

Besides "just post there instead making a help thread" the thread itself doesn't help the section at all.
Good luck using the search engine on epvp (or google) to find something that was answered in the thread. We're looking into an alternative at the moment but it'll take some time, however, the help thread was never a good solution for anything. Back when I modded the section it was already there and more-or-less barely used, today it's quite different tho.

There was a similar thing in the CO2-Section recently and we (the administration and the CO2 mods) decided to remove it. It causes more problems than it solves imho.

for me, the help thread was a huge help actually, 5000 pages but to find what u need you must work hard.
just because some minority keep posting threads instead of using the help thread doesn't mean it's not useful xd, anyways I'm looking up for new ways to answer or help people.

The thread will still remain available and if you would like you can bookmark it.

I saw more people yelled at for not using it, than I saw people just helping out and answering the question the person asked in their thread in the first place.

As you say...

I would rather see the minority become the majority.

This is a good decision in my opinion, it's better to give answers in the threads when someone posts a question this way it's easier to find that question since you can search for the thread but you can't search the posts inside the thread and in case of duplicate questions you can always reply with a link to the same question or a similar one that includes the answer.
