Opening the Shaiya model files

I have ZS's Shaiya Data Extractor. Looks like Shaiya models are in .3DC format. Is there a plugin for 3Ds Max 2009 (32 bit) that will open those? 3D Object Converter 4.411 opens them, but I don't have the $80 (wtf) to register it and so can't save to wavefront .obj format (my usual format).

You can use chinese data.saf extractor for it.

Here's the link to the program:

However, you can't really convert anything unless, as stated in 1st post, you pay for it.

:D

What can be said? .... ehehehehehe

Btw, 3D Canvas won't open *.3dc files. It uses the same extenstion, but returns an error when I tried to open Shaiya *.3dc's. Back to the ... beginning I guess ...

hey guys. im looking to see how u got the original .3dc and .dds files. ive getten a few off of some forums but i would rather get them myself.

i have however found a way to convert into .obj or .3ds.

you need 2 programs.

both are free (the one kind of is but there is a work around.)

3d object converter 4.8 (google it)

meshlab (google that 2)

the 3d obj converter will read the .3dc file. it wont however read the .dds so your screwed on textures.

you cant convert to .obj or .3ds because you need to register.

instead, convert to .off.

once in .off open meshlab and import your .off and export to .3ds .obj. or which ever other ones you want.

there you have it. you can have your models.

im asking how you got the original .3dc files in the 1st place. hopefully the ones i got were just screwed up and i can extract the .dds with it so i can have the textures too.

thanks and your welcome :)

ps. i do realize this is pretty old. but ive been searching the forums and cant really find anything.
