Replace Fire Circle with Pervade

10/27/2005 21:49 ~Vexa~#1
Ok, just wanted to ask like 2 questions:
1. What do I have to do to change the fire circle effect into pervade? (Pervade just looks nicer :D )
2. If I change it, will other people see it? And will it be in 5 bursts like the normal pervade or will it just be like the effect that ends pervade? :?

I mean the other question. Like where is the fire circle and pervade file? And how do you switch them so fire circle looks like pervade to me?

Go download yourself a hex editor. (google -> "hex editor")

Open up your hex editor, and open the file MagicType.dat

Use the search function in your hex editor to find "Pervade".

Look at the entries for pervade to see the effect. There are lots of entries for pervade, because it hits multiple times and has a few different effects. Scroll down from the name till you find something like "zf2-e263" Thats the reference to the effect in 3deffect.ini.

Copy the effects for each pervade entry, theres quite a few.

Now search for FireCircle, or FireArista, and scroll down after the names till you see a similar named effect for them. Replace the effect name with one of those you copied from Pervade. Make sure you overwrite the name, and do not alter the size of the file structure.

You can alter the effect further by changing parameters for it in 3defect.ini, or editing the .dds files with a grphic editor.

A hex editor is just like a text editor, only you see the content of the file in Hex rather than ASCII. The problem with editing binary files in a text editor is all values which should be zero are changed into spaces (a space has a value of 32).

Hex editors usually contain 2 columns. 1 column is the hex, and the other is just text like you'll see in notepad. You can save files without having to worry about the problem i described above.

go to download.com and download a hex editor. If you think they trying to keylog you, then your a moron. Install the hex editor, and open up magictype.ini in your ini file... Press Ctrl + F and type in Pervade, and look for a text string. Click the last file it found (fixed pervade.. does pervade even have levels? i dont have a pure water).. change the animation to the firecircle animation (which can befound the same way the pervade animation was).
