What is over edited to you?

The title explains the main point of the thread quite well.

In the recent p-sro scene, I noticed that players complaining about over-edited servers and that known definition 'End Game Content'.

However, I would like to hear your ideas as a loyal player to p-sro about those two points.

Knowing that if you just have an idea which looks impossible to be done. Just tell us, We are pretty sure we can get it done.

Everything is over edited. SRO is an over-edited game, anyways. I think there must be some more professional editing's. I like the fact that the game is being over-edited but with limits (even so). For example, I don't like those childish D16 or D17 with Cap 180 servers that aren't really fit or designed for a balanced SRO gameplay.

Snow. SilkRoad is in need of professional touches, that's ALL.

I have tried to do a vanilla server countless times and it didn't work out very well. So, I'm trying the new features, some might be inspired from well-known servers and others are completely new to sro.

Over edited is mainly adding stuff to the base game which usually isn't there (i.e new trade routes, new starting areas, and such) but personally I class over edited as coin systems, tweaks to jobbing, etc

Over-edited: Too much custom content, making the game being too different from its original state (old iSro, cap 110 and below)

Examples:

1) Custom shitty trade routes (togui route, underwater route, petra route, etc...)
2) SoX/Stone/Whatever Boxes (getting random SoX items/stones/whatever through return scrolls)
3) Dw "job temple" / Any job temple below cap 110
4) STR Uniques (well this is mostly for balance between STR / INT, but still)
5) High cap uniques in low caps (like Arabian uniques in caps 80~100)
6) Roc's HP/Drops modification to "fit" caps
7) Uniques dropping silk items (or silk itself)
8) Job Point system / Custom Job rewards
9) Permanent chineses buff (lazy people xD)
10) Nerf to EU race / Overbuff CHN race for "Balance" (Mostly in low caps)

etc...

If the original game itself is failing, it probably needs to be over-edited to be good in the first place because it's actually that bad, just my opinion.

It DOESN'T need to be good. People play expecting it to be bad. Nostalgia is the only reason. Not like you can't find better games...

I don't mind certain tweaks that could be added to private servers to fill the gaps that Joymax failed with in iSRO as long as they dont change the main aspect of the gameplay and how Silkroad should be played .

But adding League of Legends style systems and other games systems that kills the main purpose of Silkroad is just not fun or we can say its not working. Lets for sure not forget the servers that has weird town designs , crazy glows , 140 and 150 caps that not even iSRO reached , custom masteries like the wind mastery.

About the End Game Gear , I think that starting with a low cap server (around 100) and forcing continuous scheduled cap updates is good but this needs a server that could basically run for a long time and by long time I mean 2~3 years or even more not just open for few months milk the people for money and just vanish. Lets not only blame the servers owners for all of it because the players themselves do jump from one server to another just because why not.

Yea, what most of server devps don't understand newdays is that people don't like over-edited servers. Everything is fine when they fix what Joymax didn't. But when they start to add so many random shits to make server look better, it start to lose sense.

The first thing we have to think is that above of any other opinion, Silkroad is a MMORPG. This mean that the game itself is supposed to be Long-Term, Quest-based lvl up system, balanced PvP environment, Job oriented, Craft system, Dungeons, History, etc...

Most of today's server hardly has at least 3 of these aspects of a true MMORPG while Joymax with all their failures they're still keeping the MMORPG environment.

Today's server don't have quest-based sytem, which encourages people to bot 24/7 until they get max lvl (They would bot with quests too, but they may think about other kind of quest-based system that doesn't require bot at all)

Today's server don't have true Job-focused system. They think that adding job points as reward and enabling job temple instantly makes the game Job-based. This is totally false. If they really wanted a Job-based server, first of all gold rate and job rate must be x1 as well as they need to get rid of gold botters by selling items sell value to 0 (or low enough to avoid making it a non viable strategy to get gold). As well as if they want to add Job Temple, they must keep joymax system and make it better (quests to get AP to unlock uniques chambers, job pvp events, big job caravan events, like iSro did with Consigment Merchant and Styria Clash in job update) and forget about the new trade routes, these routes are too bad, a really big wasted potential that could be done for another kind of special event.

Today's server don't have craft system, what kind of MMORPG don't have craft system? Joymax craft system wasn't really nice, tablets were annoying due to that failed concept of "Attribute Assimilation", craft system isn't just an upgrade scroll to get end gear, it's more than that. but anyway they (Joymax) deleted it and made craft system for Job-exclusive items, socket stones and fortress items (like catapults), which was a nice idea which I don't see implemented in today's servers.

Today's server don't have Dungeons, just few of so many devs with some brain takes Pharaoh Tomb and fit it in to their server, but that's not enough, also, they don't event add quest to unlock mid and adv pharaoh tomb entrance... I know coding instance dungeons isn't easy, but it will surely make server more interesting.

Today's server don't give a fuck about balance, most of them takes the same/random "balance" changes and they end up failing over and over again. I really don't understand why all servers have an open beta phase if they don't really care about balance, they just ope ni, there's a strong build, most of people goes with that build, everybody quits and that's all. Another failure. Just because of laziness of not touching skills as they fear everything is gonna fail and end up releasing an unbalanced server to milk player's money and closes after few weeks.

Also nowadays owners are lazy and they're doing the same server over again(100 cap, only chn, same features which are boring or aren't working at all). Most of "features" they do are forcing you to job 24/7 and also make every activity solo like ctf for kills etc. Silkroad should focus on teamplay or at least should be tried to do so.

That is because all of the servers are copying each others.

Lemme add another small comment, Snow.

I ask myself :"What are the limits of overediting...?"

Like when we'll discover more and more about editing. For example, I was thinking of mapping new towns using current objects in towns, would be that possible in the future? Well. SilkRoad is entering a new era of editing. It is going to be completely changed when they're many professional servers enter together in a huge competition. So, basically, the idea that a competition will reinforce massively the overediting of the game is something I'm sure of. Creating new trade routes, making new systems and many many various ones too and 3D-modeling the current items are all characteristics of overediting. Implementing new things from other games will be very important in the next time.

So, basically, you see. We're not only in need of changing SilkRoad's interface but we're in interaction between each other and that what creates really the overediting. People join the servers that has new and interesting systems. A vanilla server won't be appreciated no longer not because there are people who may dislike the normal-line-kind-of-silkroad-ish. But, it seems intuitional that people are not going downstairs anymore. They're looking much more for what comes, otherwise, they're looking forward going upstairs and not downstairs.

Umm, that's all. I hope you get me.

Most of the p-sro population are now controlled by guild leaders. It doesn't matter how good or new your stuff is, if you can't get the guild leaders to play, you will get an empty server.
