Hi guys!

I'd like to introduce to you the Hungry Catshop application which is a Perfect World catshop emulator.

In short, it lets you set up your catshops without having to use the resource consuming game client.

Features worth mentioning:
- Small RAM and CPU usage
- You can use multiple catshops at the same time
- You can add custom game servers (PWI servers are added by default now)
- Automatically reconnects and re-opens the catshops if they get disconnected
- Logs past activities
- Supports buying and selling of items, setting the note conversion rates (if you have a catshop vendor license)
- You can log in to the same HC account from multiple computers at the same time
- And there are more and better features to come! Even an Android version is in the plans. :)

Please, visit the official site for more information and download:

You do seem to be a bit full of yourself, judging from your website. You did NOT figure out the game's protocol. You found source code which was ready made and done, and slapped a gui over it.

Nowhere do I state that I reverse engineered the game's transmission protocol, I believe. I've only used my magical powers to unveil certain secrets unbeknownst to many others. Also, I don't think you can - based on the information available to you - judge the quantity and quality of my actual fore- or background work, regardless of whether I scraped together pieces of code scattered on the interwebz or I created the entire thing myself, from scratch.

While this is quite irrelevant, because I don't like blaming others, I believe that your assumption can and should be used against many and most of the other Perfect World related developers, as well. (Based on your disdainful tone, I guess I could have used quotation marks around the developers word.) Most people who put a lot of work into reverse engineering the transmission protocol of the game in the beginning, already left this game behind a long time ago. Should I take that people using those people's findings - regardless of putting together a GUI or adding other backend stuff - are just scavengers and are not worthy of being called programmers?

I am not directly criticizing you, I merely found it over the top regarding the way you sell yourself on your website. I knew a lot of the initial people who figured out the angelica protocol - some are still among us, lurking around, having left the "scene" a long time ago, as you said. Also, it is irrelevant if you wrote it yourself or not - the work is reversing, not writing code. Everybody can implement a known protocol.

As for people who use code and slap over GUIs - lots of people here will gladly accuse me of doing the same for years. So what do I know. Do your thing and hope it works out, but know that selling stuff for PW stopped working back in 2016. I do hope you can prove me wrong, though.

I'm not a marketing specialist, so I may have misused certain words that implied that I was full of myself, as you have previously mentioned, though I really didn't mean to do so.

I do agree with you that PW has been.. let's be honest, dying, for some time now, but somehow they manage to keep it alive. Probably people are just too stupid - yes, I'm calling potential customers stupid.

In any case, the main goal of my project wasn't making money, actually. It was more like a fun project where I learnt a lot of new things. Working with cryptography, compressions, networking, multi-threading, reverse engineering an MMORPG's game client (at least parts of it, even if it's just analyzing packets, figuring out the meaning of bytes and bits or just figuring out the data structure of the client files) and many other things. While they may not be much, I even created some tools to help my work (like a packet sniffer, icon extractor, etc). But it's true that in the end I was like "oh hey, I worked a lot on this and it actually works, so why not try to make some pocket money?" So I gave it a try, with not much to lose anyway.
