I want to start making my own server

Ok so i have been on this community for like 3 years . I was here from the date the first files came out 3.6 with the eg client but i was always busy with school and i couldn't learn how to develop my own server. I had one server at the past with 30 players active everyday but i couldn't fix anything if there wasn't a thread about it :P

So,where should i start ? learning c? c# ? c++ ? c+ ? I would really appreciate your answer <3

Here is a really friendly advice for you: Don't open your own server.
The game community is to little for all these servers, there are already enough.
The "server war" is ugly, better you don't waste your nerves and money.
And a Dev should at least know something like C++ to fix bugs or do own content without copy&paste.

Better you play on existing big servers like P4 or something, but another one isn't smart nowadays.

You can check the past, server come and die. It is better to keep up the existing ones instead of divide the community more (at the moment other servers opened their gates, you see there are to much people with this idea).

i knew someone will complain about it . I dont mean open a PUBLIC server just a local one to get better and better until i know some things to maybe join a 4story team ?

you have to develop something no one have ever done before you in order to join a server, but they would probably buy it from you instead of inviting you to their team.

I'm sick of P4Story.
If you want start your own project just do it and start with C++ :)

When you want to learn C# (!right!) then you need up to 1-2 Years.

4Story is written in c++ so if you start with c# it will be even more than 1-2 years.

That's even more incredible since there are devs like Jirkus, who is only 15yo and has probably the best knowledge of the codebase.

so for basic fixes on files and just have a private project it would take up to 2 years of knowledge?

Depends on whats your definiton of "basic fixes".
