Creating a private server ?

Hi everyone, i play DO since 2010 i think, and i really like the game, but sometimes its really hard to get a new account full ,so, i was thinking, is there any tutorial of how to create a private server?Like a stand alone version ?

Sorry to jump on this thread. But i didnt want to make a new one. I have a "little" issue. Part of it is my fault, and is a lesson WELL learnt.

I've been all over these forums, looking for a DO Private server. I managed to get a couple working, but no NPCs. I seem to always get the same error also. Doesnt matter what repack i download, i get a xajax error, trying to get info from bigpoints website. I can only assume it is for graphic reasons (looking at the php files, calling image src)

So, i figured since most repacks were from 2013, alot has change since then.

Heres my mistake, I google "DO private server 2016" Stumbled on this youtube video done by Angels vs Royals, or seriosdark. Had to contact him for files. He wanted $$. He Showed me a test server, seemed very nice. so i offered less and he accepted. Which was reasonable. He sent me the CMS and SQL, Turns out, no emulator. so i scounge the net for seriousdark emulator. Thats when i realize, hes been banned here. Second, threads about that emulator has keyloggers. Now im out a few bucks and glad i didnt get the emu now lol.

So go ahead, get a laugh in.... I deserve that lol

So heres my question

I downloaded every repack in this thread, and many others (that the links were there).

Which one would you forum vets recommend i go with. I would like a pve server.
For the record, Im not asking for anyone to help me code stuff, i just need advice on which one i should use to begin with. ( i hate to spend weeks trying to fix one tht simply isnt worth it lol ) And this server will most like not go public, only for a few friends that want to bring back memories.

I would recommend spacebattles 0.8 but since the owners are very egoistic and money-suckers they'll not give for free,I assure you that.

Check this thread I made asking for that private server source,it didn't worked,they all acted like jerks(The only reason why the world is going to shit)

When I asked for the spacebattles(A PS source only 23 users of EPVP has got it for free,but want to sell it for money,almost 404040404040 billions of "dollahs",since they aren't UK/American people they spell dollars like that,third world.):[Only registered and activated users can see links. So,In conclusion you're wasting your time asking for good PS source.
NettyServer would be good,but the dev doesn't work on it anymore

First of all, SpaceBattles was never released, it was leaked this means that you do not have the right to use it (if you find it). Then, if they ask you for money you can simply demand them, I would do it myself, but neither I care nor I have motivation.

Also, the fact that someone doesn't give you the source of something they have been working on for a long time just because you and your pretty face asked for it doesn't mean they are egoistic and money-suckers.

I totally agree with Manulaiko here. Someone who doesnt want to have their hard work taken, doesnt need to be egositical if hes keeping it to himself, specially if they spent lots of time working on it.

But on the other hand, i do notice alot of hatred in these forums. Some people are ignorant "give me files now!!!!" and some are just here to get on the bandwagon and learn. I see alot of "GO LEARN TO CODE", when they are actually legit questions, not ignorant questions. Im starting to think that this is what this coding community is about, hatred. And regarding the DO private servers. Ignorance led those threads to be closed, or the thread was outdated. But i dont understand WHY that link is still there if most do not work. So many of the servers have dead links.

I Work full time, run a business, and manage 3 arma servers/community. My time is very limited (not to mention the wife needs to get pregnant lol) So coding a WHOLE DO server would not be feasible. I would never complete it.

I dont mind paying, i have that mindset, knowledge is priceless.

So with that being said, and what zizi said, it seems its best for me to just forget about this Dark orbit server. One, they are outdated, 2 way too much hatred in these forums for anyone to learn properly. BTW I've been part of many forums, and my knowledge isnt as great as some here, but i still get along quite well.

But I maybe notice all the hatred because im Canadian...might be normal for others...

The main problem here is that 99% of the people that asks for such things never ever thought about paying a single cent for our work, because as we have the knowledge to make it we don't need anything else. Same applies for artists "come on! do it for free, at the end you're only drawing!".

Most of my friends of this subforum (mostly those private server programmers btw), including me, are studying/working as programmers, is our job, we won't do it for free just because one guy wants a server for his friends.

By the way, there is also a difference between open-source and leaked. Most of us got a [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] account with open-source projects, I've even a 3D server there!. The problem? You won't find a "ClickMe.exe" there.

Thanks for the nice words, and i get why the hostility is in the air in these forums, alot of people dont want to pay for your hard work, or dont appreciate it. Myself running 3 arma servers and a community, understands this "non appreciable" mentality. I would love to be able to learn to code like i can speak. I could probably spend a few hours a week, but it isnt enough to learn to code a server lol

Thanks to the great mods of this sub-forum, each time a project has been leaked it has been taken down as fast as possible, why? Because it's original developers' wishes, not yours.

Also, as I pointed before, it's illegal, no matter from where you see it, it's illegal to leak sources and even more sell them without consent.

If, instead of asking for leaked files, you want to make your own private server, there are enough, enough, enough open source projects for you to pick one, read it, learn about it and make one by yourself, it looks like you're just another lazy guy that wants things done, 100% playable and free because the fact that you asked for it is enough to give you what you want.

Also, regarding to the programming experience. What did you expect? It's not like if you instantly get 1.000 points of reputation in this forum for knowing c++ and a bit of py so if you're expecting something from saying that, you won't get shit unless you prove it, like everyone here has done or do you see people like Yuu-kun, Cryz, bau or any other developer saying Hurr Durr, I can code, I'm good, I do c++ and py, pay me your respects?

We, 'the developers' (for calling us in some way) of this subforum, are used to help each other. I remember the first conversation I had with manulaiko, I asked him for help but it was a specific question about a real programming problem - Not the classic 'how code servur pls?'

The [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...] is not a useless thread as someone said before, but you've to ask specific questions not the classic
- how to make TDM? (As you said you know C++ you will understand that is completely impossible to get something like that)
Try to search questions that haven't been answered about threading, sockets, packet encryption, and so on..

At the end this isn't different to 'real life'. If you want something contribute giving something back ;) - Nobody works for free, you can always try to get free clothes on your local market.

Theres a difference with saying you have money and will buy anything, rather than saying "hey, i dont mind paying for someone elses hard work". Im a graphic artist by trade, I have my own sign company and print tshirts. << that is my sidejob, i work full time also during the day. All my money, goes into my business so i can build it up. It doesnt pay me enough to stay home and work...YET.

That is a skill the people in the arma forums know me for, I don't mind helping other server owners make their loadscreens, or custom skins for vehicles, things like that. I know what im doing, and i've used MANY scripts from the community, the least i can do is help others too. Im also excellent with Vector graphics. 15 years experience will do that.

But to jump on zizis post. You seem angry at these forums, and also at Bigpoint. I understand bigpoint has made the game worst than it ever was, regarding pay to win.

You're approach towards wanting to have a clickme.exe is definitely not the right way either. The insults towards the devs could be left out. Its only making you angrier for nothing. I understand you might not have the time for it, neither do it. But im not angry at the devs for not releasing their code. As a matter of fact, I started fixing one of the repacks last night. But it could take me months lol. But i dont care at this point, ill learn one way or another.

That type of attitude, has most likely amounted to zizi being the way he is, angry at these forums.

Hers my thought, we have enough damn corporations that rob us blind, the banks, and so on. There is no need for people like us, the hard working citizens of this planet, need to act like this. We should be working together. The one thing i find the stupidest, is private servers attacking each other. FFS attack bigpoint if you're going to spend time doing it lol or just take the time and concentrate on making the private server community stronger.

This reminds me of the US elections, half the population fighting against each other, didnt matter who won, the outcome was the same. (meaning bigpoint still wins) Reality is, if the population came together instead of fighting, maybe something could of been done about it.

On a side note, if any devs need help with some graphics, send me a PM.
