How to start?

12/04/2016 20:04 Entrepreneurship#1
Since I am not playing anymore any P-Servers of Dekaron I wanted to make my own one.
So my question is: how should I start? I do not know how to program and to work with program sofwares like C++ etc. Is it even possible to make a Dekaron P-Server with 0 knowledge?

Is there any step by step tutorial for absolute beginners, which never worked with such an kind of stuff? I got confused by all that files and tuts, not really sure which one to take.

err everyone started somewhere so your question is weird to say the least.
furthermore most of the servers owners have 0 programming knowledge. some even dont know how to touch csv files. it all depends on how good you are at manipulating people. theres one server that used to have devs and the owner did nothing. the server is still online and the owner still doesnt know jack shit about anything that happens in the server files xD

Damn that was what I have been planing at first, just to take over all server costs etc. and then just to pay the DEV to work for me.

So why they do work for him for free?lol If someone reads that and is interessted in some buisness and need some work, I got enough bucks to pay the server fee etc. just need a good dev, I would even share the win.

As a server owner I will chime in here. It's very hard to find a DEV who is trustworthy, knows what they are doing and doesn't currently work for a server or run their own. I've had many people who told me they were (DEVs) and didn't know anything.

Also, running a server takes money. There's a lot of costs you don't think of. You need a good website and a forum. Sorry, but you need both. You need to stay on top of social media and be good at answering players too.

You have to offer something other servers don't and be different so be creative too. You don't need to know programming but it surely helps. You need to be a MASTER in excel and know what the files in the client do whether you're a dev or not. You need to know SQL Server and understand the database. Finally, the server becomes your life. Updates, restarts, monitoring and ddos protection. You need a master in IT and network security.

So what would be the costs (just server) for a good server with a good connection a month?
I know how to make websites, and I also kinda good in SEO.

Many people like OVH. A server will run you $99 per month [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Checklist for starting a server:

1. Dekaron server and client files
2. Dekaron database
2. A Server
3. Microsoft SQL Server (2012 or better)
4. Website
5. Forum

Plan on going beta for 1 to 3 months until all the bugs are worked out and you have the server running the way you want.

99$ is for the server only. you gotta include tax and if you dont know any workarounds you also have to include OS fee and SQL fee. total should be around 160$ a month.

EDIT1:
also if you wanna start a server with just the basic files from epvp you'll only waste time and money. you really need something good to attract players. most of the servers hover around with 10 - 15 players online (if any lol) and close within a month because they cant afford the server.
my suggestion is that you work on the files on a local computer and when you are SURE that its good enough to steal players (protection wise, feature wise and shit) think about getting a dedicated machine.
EDIT2:
the DDoS protection on ovh so-so. if you wanna be 100% protected you have to build your own or pay a shitload for a pre-made one.

Farius is 100% right here with those BMR files. I just started learning the process myself about a week ago of how everything works and those files taught me a lot along with all the posts of trial and error posted here on Epvp. Like guesswho-.- said, just start with a local setup to get a great understanding on it all. There are several tutorials on here and a few you might find on other websites just from light searching. Almost every problematic situation that you may come across has been answered from what I discovered. Good luck!
