Preload.

Does the "Preloading" function actually works? Has anyone actually tested it out, if the maps load faster with preloading or no? (You can set the initial .pre file path in maplist)

If you know it yourself or know someone who might now the answer...Please drop a reply.


I need to know if there's a point in having the .pre files or they can go straight to the bin. Already got rid of around 7k txt files in item folder and other junk.

dunno but when iam playing on DKveterans my map loads in about 3 sec
its very fast, but we had pre maps also
so ... it can be just my PC

PC Specs:

Intel Core Duo 2 (3Ghz)
Crossair 2X 2Gb (1066Mhz)
2X 150Gb Raptors (10000rpm) (20k rpm in raid 0)
Maximus formula (asus)
ATI 3870X2 TOP (1Gb video, 2GPU's)
Onboad 1000/100/10 connection

but i had like a 2ms in game so ...
i played the game on local network, while the others where playing over the internet

Well some dekaron private servers maps load uber slow and other im loading fast.

Is this because of the fast connection or the preloaded maps ur talking about?if so i want to enable that at my server.

Who cares about loading, its 20 or 30 secs? It doesn't matter, as no-lifers sit at the PC for 12 hours per day, so giving them extra 10 seconds from map loading really won't change anything...

Actually zombe as always faster is better ,it is annoying when u switch maps and it loads slow espacially when u got to be at that place fast.
