Your user-permissions are correct? you need the delete-permission too.
Client: Read
Server: Read, Write, Delete

BTW, if you are plannning to go live with a server, don´t use the same ftp-account for both client and server. Otherwise everyone will have read/write/delete-permissions on your ftp-account.
