I had a Warlock once on this level. I went full int with light armor.
With light armor and cleric rod equipped you get a passive Bonus to armor and magic armor.
Which isn't the same as full robe, but you can live longer against full str peoples.
When you buff yourself with cleric defensive skills, you are nearly unkillable, and you still can bind / glut healing opponents, before or after your warlock stun failed.

You can go hybrid, when you want to play a supporting role for your team, but less int on your char means lesser balance rating.
Balance rating is the damage you get or can deal, means you get more int damage and deal lesser int damage.
