Hi, I have a question.
I would like to create a private server in epic 7,2/8,1 only for me, but i have a weak computer.
Cpu: AMD athlon 2x 2,4Ghz
Ram: 3GB DDR2
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

It will be a server only for me. Can I play without lag ?

I am not sure if this is the same question or not but the computer specs look eerily similar...

Answer it will lag without a little more Ram but the lag should be minimal unless you are being swarmed by monsters then the lag may be a little more aggressive.

The main points of a server are:

- HDD read/write speed
-- This is going to be your absolute killer as more and more people are on the server. Because of the read/writes the server is gonna have to do to your database. (saying your server is local, if db are remote then NIC read/write and ISP speed come into play)

- RAM
-- Simply because the GS has to be loaded into memory and from there use it's functions. (NOT AS IMPORTANT HOWEVER) with 6.3 and under you could get away with 3gb but not on a 7.2+

- NIC (Network)
-- This really only applies to remote servers

don't forget also, that rappelz itself is a lagfest.

why? because:

while i was on official server i ran my client from a ramdisc (i was templar)
did not help with lag at all.

then i tested it with a pserver (VM server via host 10gbit 32gb ram (server vhd in ramdsik)) client in ramdisc as well, Host os had more than 32gb ram left - more than enough.

still lagged with a lot of mobs (UG pp with templar still laggy as fuck) granted not the 1m+ lag but still noticale.

what i actually wanted to say: ram is important for you and 3gb is def not enough but with an 8gb system you should be ok with 9.1 server
(and ram for your system should not cost much)
