Conquer Editing Bible

04/13/2016 01:18 pro4never#1
This thread is designed to be a "all in one" solution to how conquer edits are done. I will be trying to keep it organized but lets face it... it's gonna be a bit all over the place.

Section 1: Preparing your client/extracting assets

Section 2: Useful Tools

Section 3: How files are associated

Section 3: Re-Texturing a Garment

Section 4: Editing weapon glows

Section 5: Adding a Custom Weapon

NOTE: THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS. I have a ton more to post but the thread will be reallyyyy long...

Wanna add some of this to our wiki?

This is only less than half of the post in its final state and it took me a stupid amount of time to do... re-typing it all into a wiki format seems unlikely xD

Purpose of this is I need more client editors to hire and I'm sick of re-explaining how all the stuff links together. This way I can write it all out once and send the link to anyone who wants to try doing some edits for me lol.

@ Anyone reading this guide.

If you test this guide out, start making some edits and would like to do more, hit me up. I pay per edit.

I'll gladly add these to the wiki for you, if you give me your permission.

Of course, go for it. None of this is unique to me it's just a collection of the tools and practices I've used.

I'm pretty pissed... forum crashed as I submitted the last update so it deleted like 5 paragraphs of content :(

We'll see about re-adding the effect on adding effects to weapons tomorrow... this should be pretty 'complete' for now though.

You can edit the position of existing buttons in gui.ini - adding new buttons or functions is not possible without extensive client hooks.

I'm not aware of any public model viewer. Ulti released one but I believe its removed. I released one and then I removed it. Those are the two I'm aware of so sounds like you're out of luck.

Keep in mind that model viewer wont really help you except for previewing how a texture looks on a fixed mesh or in the case of my newer one doing some basic moving/resizing/rotating of objects. Not really looking to distribute it as it never got to the point where anyone wanted to do work for me using it.
