Kind of odd behavior

Correct me, if I am wrong, but did the last Windows 10 (Pro x64) patch broke something?
I was just going to look for something on my client, going to show someone an ingame mechanic, but suddenly, no module is booting up. Actually, their frame will flash once and will be terminated immediately. Exception: Certification works.

Just a simply crashlog, even on the farmmanger, lol.

Welp. If no one has a clue, isn't that bad anyways. Not into SRO anymore.

Edit: Seems like that neither the launcher nor the direct .exe launch works anymore. Nothing happens at all. Seems to be really odd. Works on my VMWare (Win7 U x64) though.

I have no bloody clue whatever happened ...
It seems to work again, despite the fact that windows update hasn't done anything nor I did anything differently than ignoring the issue lol

PS: Can anyone tell me why the console trigger on Windows 10 acts weird? Using Shift + ^ usually was opening the console (and thus might be the cause of players complaining stupidly about "Console no opening!", now I get what they did mean), since that is not working anymore, why the hell ever, the current one is Shift+^+# ... that is kinda weird.

You're not alone xD
02/23/2016 22:38 blapanda#3
Really? lol
So Microsoft probably removed some kind of backward compatibility, since starting it with specific parameters and privileges won't do anything.

My girlfriend even mocked me looking into her Sims4 crap. That one stopped suddenly working, too, but haven't give a crap.

Never did, never will use Windows 10.

But it looked so faaaaancy and so glamoroooouuus.. and... I fucking mistakenly clicked the upgrade now instead of the remind me later button, and just kept it since everything was working perfect xD

Let's see what else MS is going to break. Prolly all GPU and CPU drivers. That would be nice.

I'm using Windows 10 with the latest update and the machines are working perfectly well. For sure, I faced your issue once. I tried opening AgentServer.exe and it opened and closed after showing the module name, but after restarting the files again, it worked fine and i haven't had the issue since then.

Have you added your modules to the DEP?

- Right click Computer
- Advanced System settings
- Performance
- Data Execution Performance
- Add the modules there.

Do the same for the client (add all the .exes to DEP)

That is the usual thing which I have always disable, since DEP is just a useless piece of Microsoft programming. (Antivirus apps like Kaspersky are already being set up properly not tracking any events from the specific development section, which xSRO stuff are also located at.)
Trying to enable it and retry it. Let's see if this will change anything.

It's what I kind think at the top of my head, that's how modules behave when you don't add them to DEP. They close instantly after 1 second more or less.
02/24/2016 13:24 blapanda#10
Nope, makes no difference. DEP is disabled, no matter if enabling it via console or manually via root location and specific parameters.
The weird thing is, DEP was disabled even before this occurrence of behavior.

Any antivirus running?

Believe me, I've tried removing every kind of disturbance before retrying them. The typical 50:50 principle.
Nothing seems to work out.

As well having mentioned: Works flawless on my VMWare, which is running Windows 7 U x64.

I am not caring about silkroad, not "even that much", more like "I really don't care anymore about silkroad", but seems like most of the other Windows 10 users are suffering from the same issue since the last Windows Update.

Might become handy in future, if Windows 7 and co keeps rotting away like Win XP does, and people have no other options than using Win10 or even higher (despite the fact that pSRO scene won't survive for that long, for sure).

There won't be an end to this scene unfortunately.

There will be an end, like for almost everything.

I have windows 10(pro) edition and everything work fine for me, even the server/client files without any type of special editing needed.
