As I have noticed lately with new people have come the misuse of the tags used here more commonly again. So I thought I would write this explaining the usage of the tags and other tips/rules when posting threads.
Tags:
[Release]
Use this when releasing something (other then a server). An example of this would be a script for servers, new items, new pets, new npcs. Do not use this when making a guide or server.
[Guide]
Use this when writing a guide/tutorial regarding pretty much anything. As in the guide on making a server or adding an item.
[Help]
Use this tag when asking a question. But please try a breif description within the title.
[Server]
Use this if you are advertising your server. But please try to limit the amount of threads and note you will need a link back to elite pvpers on your homepage.
[Concept]
Use this if you wish to discuss an idea or concept you are trying. An example would be decrypting files etc.
[Important]
Use this for threads that are Important an example would be a thread like this. Or one that desribes rules you must follow etc.
[Question]
This is not a very commonly used thread title. This is due to the fact most questions are to do with help. But if you are asking a general question to other epvp members then this would be fine.
Difference:
I have an error with my server what is wrong? - Help
Does anyone have any trouble with this player? - Question
Example threads:
Release Thread
Help Thread
Guide Thread
Server Thread
Things to remember:
Make your titles short and to the point. Personaly I tend to ignore threads that ask the question in the title.
Example:
[Help]How can I setup server without any bugs because I can't connect?
There is no need to ask the question in the title just give a category within the titel.
Example:
[Help]Server Connection
This tells those reading the title that your problem is to do with connecting to the server.
Another problem within the title is having no description at all.
Example:
[Help]HELP!!
This just tells people you want help they have no idea what the subject is before so.
These rules apply for all threads.
Here are some examples that are Not correctly named.
Bad Thread Titles:
Please note that all this is just a suggestion and only my opinion but I do think everyone could benefit from better named threads and shorter titles. I do not mean to offend anyone.
Good Titles:
Finally when posting a thread try to break it up. The best thing you can do to help others is put spoiler tags around any images you embed, this will mean those that may be unfortunate enough to have a slow connecting to be able to connect to your thread.
