I heard there are l2walker cracks where you can use it for free?..maybe I am a moron and don't know that the faqs up top are a few examples? So can anyone confirm either question

Yeah, you need to pay for L2walker.
There are some methods to "crack" your L2walker version, just read the stickies up in this section...
