Trace someone by link

Hello I just bought a phone from someone online. I am beggining to suspect I will never get it. Let's not talk about that anymore. But the seller still responds to E-Mails. I live in Sweden.

I tried to trace the location of the E-Mail from the mail header, got only to a Hotmail server in the US. Then I tried using an app for Chrome Gmail, it sends an invisible image, but Google is a middleman there and it downloads the picture and uploads it to the receiver, so I just got one of Googles servers.
So I thought there must be some site or app or something that let's you send a link and if they open it, their location gets traced. I am open to other options.

Please help me by giving me information of how to trace, I know I was stupid to trust someone online over money, so let's not talk about that, only about the tracing.

I know he is seeking for revenge but without doubt this is still illegal.
