Warriors DO NOT SUCK AT PVP! Say that 3 times fast, and then read what I have to say.
As a warrior I win 9 out of 10 duels, can take out hunters +5 levels to me, have taken out even con paladins, and +6 con paladins in beta. This is a -=Warrior=-. My PVP record rocks your socks, and all of those whiners just are not using their brains.
How do you beat them in PVP? It is simple.
Step1: Buy Rage and Health Potions. Warriors can heal in combat, warriors can get rage in combat? Usually I stick with a heal potion because damage dealt to us is rage GAINED for us! (wootage)
Step2: Train every single weapon you can.
Step3: Get a good frellin weapon, and train it to max skill (lots of n00bs do not do this and complain about the miss rate). Press the ?k? key to review your skills and make sure those weapons are maxed.
Step4: Max your unarmed skill for when you are disarmed.
Step5: Engineering is the best profession for a warrior. You get ranged bomb AOE attacks for group raids, group agro gain (OMG you noobs never realized that, huh?), an attack for when rooted, and nice combat pets. Great for PVP. Add in the root with the net-o-matic and you are golden.
Step6: Train all skills on even levels, and read what they do!
Step7: Get a mod with multiple hotkeybars VISIT the forums!
Step8: Warlocks are your friends, try to always carry an emergency healthstone around.
Now you might stand a chance in PVP.
Here is how ya do it. First of all I am going to cover PVPing and not dueling. Dueling is simple, and can be picked up with practice. This is straight up hardcore PVP.
Hunters: They are not as bad as they seem. First of all charge them if at all possible. If not slam them with a netomatic, close in and hamstring them. Follow up with a rend, a few sunder armors, and then let the rage build. This is where the trick comes in. At around 20% health they will consume a potion as they might feel that drinking potions are better used for PVE. At 20% you can use execute. Execute can deal a nice 300+ damage if done properly which can take out your opponent fast. That is one dead hunter. Also if you are a horde character save the STICKEY glue from the stickey glue quest in the echo isles, it is great for pvp. Offer to buy it from newbies for like 50s, and they?ll be happy.
Mages: They are fodder. Net and kill. Takes a few eyeblinks to slay them. Oh right? they got spells like polymorph and fear? USELESS! Try getting +arcane resist items, they truly can work wonders when you get that nice little ?resist? on a poly attempt on ya. Oh yeah, and remember shield bash, it?ll make them throw a FIT. Mages are not a problem.
Rogues: Ok these are a bit trick, as they will often come up and surprise you. In fact they?ll probably try to jump you while already weak. That is why you need a greater healing or likewise powerful healing potions ready. Just pop it down, and you should have plenty of rage to hamstring them. Maneuver in circles around them to prevent the backstab, while rending/sundering them (sunder 2-3 times max). Thunderclap is nice, believe it or not (slows down their speed) and so is demoralize. In fact drop thunderclap and demoralize immediately after the hamstring. Before you know it the Rogue will be ready to be EXECUTED! (remember to save the rage for the telling blow, it is always at 20% that the heal potion comes out. Even I am a victim of that logic)
Shamans: I am horde, I do not betray my fellow shamans!
Paladins: Alrighty, they can be tricks, and rough. First of all you will need to pull every trick out of your bag for this one, as it is a true contest of skill, but there are cheap ways of getting Paladins down for the punch. The first trick is that paladins do not have ANY ranged attacks unless they are engineers. You took engineering right? Plop sticky glue, or a net-o-matic on that son of a gun. Now he can?t do jack. Start bombing/range attacking him after giving him a test of the good ole rendage. Let him waste his precious mana healing, or frying his brain trying to figure out what to do. Maybe you?ll get lucky and he?ll drink a potion early. If you got an engineer pet sick them on the pally. Maybe you took a little damage? Try first aid, he isn?t touching you.
Eventually the Paladin will break free, it is bound to happen. He?ll be softened up, you should have already done inner rage so now come to papa for the hamstring. Plop another rend down, sunder 4 times, and build the rage up. Remember to drink your potions as needed. Eventually he?ll try to cast a spell, give him the good ole shield smackdown to prevent that stupidity. At 20% he should be trying to do that annoying immunity thing, so execute him before it happens. Otherwise if you let it lose and he is immune switch to defensive. Start using shield wall and revenging with sunders as needed. The Paladins WILL fall. Shield smack as needed, as usual.
Warlock, are fodder. If it is a voidwalker ignore it. If it is a succubus smack it down for the 3 seconds it takes you. If an imp, laugh and kill it in 2 hits. Then proceed to shield bash, hamstring, and rend the poor guy to death. Don?t bother with sunder, do not heroic strike unless you use it as a last hit that might drop him to the 20% for execute to work. Then execute, he is dead.
Priests, if you can?t figure this out on your own you have no hope. They can play tricks, but if you have half a brain they won?t work. They have no recourse against warriors except to die or pray to be dealt a painless death.
This should put you on the road to making an effective warrior in PVP. Also consider looking up the ARMS talent tree. It is extremely useful to invest in the rend, and deep wounds. I am a fan of the sunder armor talent improver as well. Those 3 talents can really bring a world of hurt to the paladin movement, which is just a bunch of guys trying to play WoW on god-mode. If you learn how to play tough in the rough, you?ll have more skill than the rest of the bunch.
