SoftIce problem

I cannot get SoftIce to work on XP home. It starts to open setup.exe then simply hangs in memory without finishing the installation. I tried running in all the compatability modes but to no avail. I have sp2 installed. I heard there is a WinXP patch for it out there?

SoftIce is for < win98 only, or not?

Actually I think I know what the problem is. I'm running on a system that has an x64 processor and I believe that it cannot run 16-bit applications which the setup.exe file appears to be. Or am I wrong?

however you should use Olly debugger thats one of the best debugger available i think

but its you choice to use win98 and softice or olly and any win system

yep i've been using it and i like it very much. I thought there was something wrong with it so that's why I wanted to mess with softIce. I kept getting an 'access violation' message when loading process [Conquer] but this is not an error at all it is simply the Nprotect anti-hack system kicking in at the time of login I figured out later.

I think there was a plugin for olly called OllyGhost unfortunately it doesn't run under Win-NT systems. :?
