I didn't write this, but it looks easy enough to do. Replace the itemtype.dat file in your ini folder with this one. Maybe back up the one you have first though.
It displays the quality of the items on the ground. The only stupid thing is that +1 items don't look any different because they aren't listed any diffrently in the client data files, it's determined server side.
comments on the edit (if you don't care and just want to use it, see the first paragraph)
The edit doesn't look all that tough, in the itemtype.dat file each item is listed several times, and they are in order like, AgateRing is listed several times, the first of which is L0AgateRing (lowest dura etc), second is L1AgateRing, RefAgateRing... on down the line. You could, if you had the time, just edit the file yourself, but here's one someone else already did.
Cheers.
For those of you who wish to do this to future versions if they patch it:
Even after editing the file size remains the same, so I think you have to compensate for any extra chars you add/delete. One way around this when it gets tough is to take AgateRing and change it to something like L1ateRing so you don't affect the filesize if you're going to do it in future versions. Whoever did this though has some other way of adjusting the file size. Not sure how, but I don't really care.
If your're confused, don't be.
You don't have to worry about any of the details if you dont ever want to mess with it, just put this file in your ini directory. If someday they patch it so it doesn't work, well then you'll have to wait for someone with the patience to make another one of these files.
