how about this? (this was posted some time ago by unforgiven)
when your game is loading, (after you press start, or if you bypassed it, when the loading screen appears) open task manager. Go to Processes, then look for main.exe in the list. When you've found it, right-click it, then choose Set Priority. Then click either above normal or high, whichever suits you.
