I just got done setting up a Shaiya server in vista x64 this is what I did:

installed SQL server 2005 standard and updated to SP3

followed the private server guide but couldn't get very far I AM SURE it was my doing but ....

tip you DO NOT NEED a virtual D: drive mine is running fine on C: but needs a tad modification to a few batch files basically changing D: to C: lol

but yes can be done is very easy and people have done on windows 7 with sql 2008 8)

SQL 2008 is not free :(

Ive got a server set up on vista you just need to follow the guides on here and its not to hard.... Where most people fall is the setup to SQL i use the 2005 Full version and everything works fine

im running it on windows vista home with SQL 2005 standard. You can actually get the standard version for free. Try using google with the search MSSQL 2005 Standard edition torrent and see what results it throws up.
