Help with file opining

Hey i need some help with this.When i download sumthing on this when i go too open it comes upteh windo saying" Windows canot open this file".It gives me an option too ither use the web service to find the correct program OR. Select aprogram from the list of installed programs.
It is windows Vista i am using on this computer.

wich files ? if its .zip or .rar download winrar.
