Edit .dat/swf files

I am trying to figure out how to edit League .dat files. I understand you have to extract the swf out of it or something similar. However, the few tools I have tried produced obfuscated text.

Any idea how I can get at the .dat or .swf files?

It's because they are zlib compressed. Most, if not all files, have a "CWS" magic, which means they are compressed. After the initial header (IIRC magic + filesize) everything else is compressed.

Is their any publicly available or private but sharable tools that can both compress and decompress for editing purposes? I know I saw others releasing edits that had very simple exploits in them, so obviously someone is doing it lol.

Anyone have any ideas?
