[Guide] Multi-Client Mabinogi

For those of you this method no longer works for, try this one:
[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

This works best if you are using Fantasia, due to the fact that it somewhat hinders Hackshield, therefore giving you more time, especially on faster computers. You can only run two simultaneous Clients at once, unless you use another method to bypass the Mabinogi Patcher entirely. If you are on Vista, you must always right-click the shortcut and "Run as Administrator", even with UAC disabled. Link to my guide on launching Client.exe directly as follows: [Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]

Begin Tutorial:
For steps 6-8 see image one. For step 10 see image two. For steps 11-12 see image three.
  1. Open Process Explorer
  2. Launch the Mabinogi Patcher
  3. Press Start on the Patcher
  4. Quickly Launch another Mabinogi Patcher
  5. Go to Process Explorer
  6. Press Ctrl+F
  7. Type devcat into the box
  8. Press Search
  9. Double-click on the one result
  10. Right click on the highlighted text and click Close Handle
  11. Scroll down a little, until you see some random characters (Or Korean if you had the language pack installed prior to Mabinogi)
  12. Right click on it and click Close Handle
  13. Close Process Explorer
  14. Press Start on the second Mabinogi Patcher
  15. Enjoy running two instances of Mabinogi at once!

I decided to re-write the guide so people can understand it better, being as the previous author did not type very good english. I really do hope this helps everyone out.

Hackshield detected me after about 10 minutes of running 2 clients and kicked me from Mabi on both instances. I'm running the Fantasia IJL15 dll file (dated 10/2/09) . Any tips? Thanks.

Okay, so I did all the steps and got this to work ONCE. It seems that that one time I got it to work was just a fluke. Whenever I search for devcat, it finds no handles for it. (I cannot see the mutant, or any files that need to be closed in order to use this method of multi-client) I tried using a different program..and that's the program I got it to work with in which it actually noticed there were handles to be seen.

With the program I'm using (It's called "Process Hacker") it tells me if I try changing anything on client.exe, "Access denied." This makes me think that my Nexon/Devcat's program is attempting to hide the handles from me so I can't try to multi-client.

Am I missing something or has anyone else dealt with this issue? If someone has, and has found a solution/fix to this problem PLEASE let me know.

I'm using a Vista 64-bit. I was told that since it's still the same programs it doesn't matter, but what the hell. :P

run the program as administrator should fix it

Yes, always right-click and "Run as Administrator" if you are on Vista, even with UAC disabled.

On a side note, yay for sticky!

You have to wait until you see the Hackshield window pop up in the bottom right corner. I have done this one Vista and XP, and it has worked like a charm. I am not sure on windows 7, but I assume it would work the same.

I apologize then, I have no solution for you. This is the first time I have heard of this happening.

i'm not sure of the relevence of this suggestion, but for anyone having issues with hs detecting process explorer, try using oos or hidetoolz to mask the process.
10/14/2009 04:36 rawk0r#14
Not sure how well this works, since HackShield is technically a rootkit itself
10/27/2009 11:16 jspillers#15
Looks like I'm SOL with hidetoolz... it's not supported in a x64 OS, apparently. Any other workarounds that anyone knows of to keep hackshield from detecting Process Explorer?

Thanks to everyone for the useful contributions. Before V50, I was using 2 clients with no problems. Hopefully I will again soon. Keep up the good work.
