You can play without manager it's totally upto you. However, only side effect is your chemistry, adding manager increases the team chemistry. :D:D I play with manager and I like to have the good managers for my teams :D:D though it doesn't effect the gameplay :p

I have so many managers and when I give 28 contracts to my player due to lot of manager the value changes to 42 :D
