Server Hosting

Hey, is there anyone out there that is in need of hosting for a server? We are entertaining the idea of starting up CO Pserver hosting, but we'd like to see how much interest there is to see if there's even a point. It will not be free but also not as much of a rip off as the VPS's currently being used by most people. The hosting would be done by a real hosting company with actual bandwidth rather than the shit offered by the cheaper priced hosting.

Feedback on if anyone would be interested, also what you would be willing to pay for it (we have a general price in mind but want to compare).

If the hosting would be made by a real hosting company, people would just pay them directly rather than paying you, right?

We would be acting more as an intermediary. If they chose, they could pay the company as well, basically what we're looking at is making a deal with a friend who owns a hosting company to get CO PServers reliable hosting and bandwidth at a fair price.

So you are saying that you will give me atleast 3 months of hosting for less than 10 dollars a month? That's what 1&1 is currently offering or something like it. Your friend could also get in trouble if he works at the hosting company and is giving out cheaper than usual hosting services without permission from the company manager. Does your friend know that? He could lose his job, get sued..

Web hosting, yes we can do less than 10 a month. We are offering virtual servers, 1&1 shows virtual servers at $30+/month. Clearly more than $10.

He owns the server(s) so there wouldn't be an issue. Thanks for the concern though.

But regardless, we're just seeing if there is a need for it first, then we can work out the fine details after.

So you are offering to give me monthly hosting for less than 10 dollars of month through a private company I have never heard of yet you never even posted the name here? If this was true you would post contact information to your friends lawyers or to your friend directly so that we may contact him. I rather speak to the owner my self than to some branch that probably doesn't even exist.

I just re-read this and it raised a question, sued for what?

Again, web hosting, yes.
No, I am not going to put up the company name, or contact info yet because this is market research. We simply do not want anyone bugging him until we know it is worth the time, and have approached him with a proper business plan.

1. Your server isn't that great, and I do not care,
2. Just throw the binary on it if your really that scared. It's hardly worth crying over.

@LetterX: Couldn't agree more.

But regardless, this is only research.

So I ask again, and please if you are not serious or just want to flame, take it elsewhere, do not waste my time. Is anyone interested or may be interested in professional VPS hosting if we were to offer it?

Hmm, sounds like a good idea, but over what are we talking about here? (i don't want 512 mb ram shit)

1st. I beg to differ my server actually is great. I've spent a long time on it.
It's better than yours at least.
2nd. I'm not fond of binaries.

Kindly post your hosting specs.

Believe what you will ;). But that goes to anyone worrying about their server being stolen, not just Zion.

@Zion: It will be better as I haven't had one in a long time.

So you've never compiled your server?

Again, this is a research phase, we aren't using more than one server at the moment. We will most likely be setting up the VPS's ourselves so we can moderate things like RAM, HDD space, etc. That is phase 2 (if there is a large enough interest): What are the minimum/recommended requirements? We then can then work from there.

Sounds like a fake to me...
Yet, its only my opinion.
