Have you got your settings in ShStudio set to show your client data (fully extracted with character/dds/3dc etc)

If you havnt, then ShStudio doesnt know where your files are, to show the images.

It's not the problem with showing me the images, when I add it to the mix it
Doesn't update the item.sdata models so I can't tell a helmet for
Example to appear like the new once I just added..

Like i stated before. You need to have ShStudio's settings set on your extracted data file. If you don't have that, then the item.sdata can't look into your files to see whatever is meant to be showing in your mlx/mlt. Also, check you actually added your new gears to the MLT's. MLX is just a collection of the 4 mlt's (top, legs, gloves, boots) without the mlt's set properly, i believe it fails to load the mlx index's properly to show the new models.

As indicated by Truth1010, the edition of /something/ that does impact several files requires that you work on a valid workspace, meaning a valid .sah fully expanded to a set of files designated as the client data folder.

as for your question:

the models are *not* defined by item.sdata.
the gear items (item with Type 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, 31, 32, 33, 35, 36, 67, 68, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 76, 77, 82, 83, 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 91 or 92) of items.sdata use models defined by the files Character/[class]/*.MLT files; when you edit a .mlx file, the .MLT files are updated all together, but of course it will be the same .mlt files only if you setup a clean client folder.

second, the helmets are not managed by .mlx, so ...

a) verify .mlx and correct, saving & re-opening them must (of course) restore data
b) verify that .mlt files opened individually are correct
c) verify item.sdata is using the right .mlt (for gears but also right .itm for weapons and so on).

No you did all correctly but the only problem is when you import the MLX file into your game files the .MLT doesn't get updated meaning you have to import every single MLT file along with your MLX files.

MLX file is used for seeing the gears more clearly (it is not needed in the game, a small short way instead of doing 1 and 1 piece in the MLT files).

Thing is that the MLX files updates the MLT files in your folder but not when you import them... (because once you save edited MLX file it would replace or create MLT files, try deleting old MLT files and saving a MLX file) :P

the four MLT files displayed by one MLX file are saved each time the MLX is saved ... there is no secret behavior around that.
do NOT delete the current MLT to "regenerate the whole thing" with the MLX, if you do so, the MLX will open with NO data but the optional names; the MLX does NOT contain the models, it only lists the content of 4 files.

and of course, you have to import your MLT to sah if you edit them; I hope nobody thought that the MLX will do that for you (and how will be an no-answser question).
