Alright, im trying to setup my server on a vps, my friend is letting me use his that he used to run his own server on, told the ports were open and ready to go, and i change the config files to match the ip of the vps, then i do the same with the oems, everything server side runs perfectly fine, no errors nothing, then when i try to login it cannot connect to the server, any thoughts on this issue, would be great to get it up off my pc.

Canyouseeme.com ?
Check if port is truely open.

If this is a real VPS(not a home hosted thing) you shouldn't have closed ports to deal with outside of your local environment.

What process does the client get up to?

make sure you got your ports open in firewall or disable the firewall in first place

then make sure you use your external ip ( not 192.168.x.x )

if that still does not work , then maybe he is not at a good provider ? or the vps system got a firewall at root level ( like virtuozo/parrallels )
if he is hosted by me then i can set it up for you

check your error logs in the accountserver you should have db check ok and hwc check ok if not then you wrote one of your ip settings wrong
