I don't think there is necessarily the "best" ship. But I would recommend just the fastest ship you can have right now, spearhead. The only problem is that dealing with aliens will be a little hard if you aren't strong enough :/
Oh wait I didn't think straight there: If you want to collect without problems, use the aegis. Fastest though, will be still spearhead ;)
